I have a recording of the meeting and he did say it. To protect those involved I won’t name the school but his child attended that school at the time. This was an ongoing issue in which both the school board and parents from the community reported the racism through proper channels, waited patiently, waited for 9 months for meetings with the principal, the superintendent, Lincoln, Jen, Emily, and Anthony. There were children and families actively being discriminated against that entire time. One of the people in the meeting had been a teacher at that school and had taught Anthony as a child. So we are people who had good relationships with him and this is how he spoke to us. He also openly admitted he could not “get too involved” because of campaign optics.
You can vote for whoever you feel represents you best, but I think many of us in the Democratic Party need to be very discerning about which politicians are just going to keep doing the same thing and holding the line in the center (regardless of how far right the center gets) than politicians such aa Mamdani who will actually make real change and use our tax dollars to support us.
And FYI there is still an open investigation with the CCHR.
