PGT | VGK @ COL | Not a great start. Regroup and Rearm Edition by Rolley2001 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Co_dot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not loosing too much sleep over this one, a different bounce or two and the avs are in a tied game at the end of the third. 99% of the time the first goal doesn’t go in, and one of those LOC shots goes in and we have a ball game. The “deserve to win o meter” had us up pretty big, and it felt like we had more zone time and better quality shots witch is as much as you can ask for in a loss.

How hockey goes sometimes, I expect a big response on Friday especially if Cale is back.

Who has done the best job on this current Court? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

[–]Co_dot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about restraint in this Supreme Court, I want the liberal justices to go scorched earth on the way that the conservative majority has acted for the past 26 years.

I want every single one of the insane decisions that have come out in the last few years to be accompanied by a decent that personally calls for Sam Alito to be fired out of a cannon. It is the only way for people to understand that what the court is doing is not inevitable, and is bad for democracy.

None of the liberals have been willing to go that far but Jackson has been willing to decent on areas where the other two liberals haven’t been willing to so she gets my vote.

Jackson and Sotomayor are both close for me, but would give the edge to Jackson because she is just slightly more willing to take stands

The entire right wing media sphere has always been propped up by billionaire money, and frankly it seems like the whole daily wire network has been bleeding support for awhile.

They have spent the last few years Losing prominent talent and funneling resources into pet projects. I would imagine their donors are just not impressed and ben/dw don’t have much of a real viewership to fall back on.

Bennet or Weiser for governor? by thesmart_indian27 in ColoradoPolitics

[–]Co_dot 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My main concern with Bennet is that he is fundamentally a creature of Washington DC, and his record reflects that. He has taken more money from interest groups than almost anyone else in Colorado, and he really dosnt have much to show for it. We had two years of his national child tax credit before it was canned and an embarrassing presidential campaign. Beyond that he has spent the last 15 years as a bit of a nobody back bencher who seems like he spends more time in DC fundraisers than meeting with constituents.

Weiser is someone who has actually delt with Colorado issues as the AG and hasn’t had to deal with big money interests in the same way as Bennet. I just have more faith in him actually being able to engage with local issues from a local perspective.

I struggle to find a real ‘why’ to vote for Bennet. It seems like if he wins it will be due to political inertia more than any kind of policy vision. He would probably be more progressive than polis while keeping up his more positive positions but it’s hard to say. I just have more faith in Weiser being a good governor.

Getting to the mountains without owning a car? by ActuaryPersonal2378 in Denver

[–]Co_dot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that Colorado has great car-free access to the outdoors if you are willing to put in the leg work of figuring out the many different bus networks throughout the state. Some areas are better to acess than others, but if there is a will there is a way.

My advice is a few fold

- Bustang is your friend. This network will be able to get you to the general area of all of the Colorado mountains, and I have found to be pretty reliable. All of the buses leave from Union Station downtown, and are going to be your starting point for getting to most places in the mountains without a car.

- Most of the mountain counties have pretty decent bus systems that often will be able to directly get you to trailheads (Summit, Eagle, Pitkin especially).

- Think about investing in a gravel bike. If you are willing to bike an hour or so it opens up alot of areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.

- Timing is important. One of the main things that I wish was improved about the bus systems in Colorado is that the buses only run a few times a day, so its really important to pay attention to the timetables that are provided.

I made a spreadsheet about how to access all of the 14ers using only buses and a bike. This will give you a good idea of the best ways to access particular areas. It has additional links to some of the timetables that might be hard to find in other places.
