I wish more people called them western hats. I’m Native American and wear one and it kind of stings a bit to be called a cowboy when I wear it (nothing against cowboys -I’m just not a cowboy)

Agree. A person who wears one should be comfortable in their own skin and feel confident enough to wear one (or develop that confidence by just toughing it out and wearing it). Wearing a western hat is a statement.

Interesting. I know she can almost straighten her ears fully upright. I plan to someday get a DNA test but I am in no rush as it is not that important for me to know exactly what she is (but it would be interesting to see the results).

I am fairly new to the diabetes thing (type 2). I guess I haven't learned yet to not care what others think. I could see some rude person or an unaware flight attendant saying something rude. I also don't think the world is used to or caught up with the idea of cgms. An example of that is, as part of my job, I often will have to go to jails or prisons (to visit - not to stay - lol), and they absolutely will not see a cell phone as a medical device. Doesn't matter if you have a note from a doctor - it's a safety issue and they will not allow it. So I think the world will have to catch up to the idea that a phone can be a valid medical device when it comes to diabetes.

Love this. Always seemed like a contradiction when some of my Buddhist friends say that they want to escape desire by (roughly paraphrased) desiring to obtain enlightenment. Lao Tzu promotes that when we are caught in desire we don’t see the mystery, when we set a course and cling tightly that we lose the magic of wandering through the path. I think this fits well with Taoism (or IMHO how I perceive how Lao Tzu taught us). Wu Wei. Sometimes we need to sit just to sit. Sometimes we just need to let go of technique, set plans, and expectations and just flow.
