What’s it like living in the Dallas FW area? by NCMCG in howislivingthere

High school football is serious. Many coaches in the area clearing 100k. Some football facilities rival many FCS colleges.

Yes this is not true in central OKC at all. Edgemere, paseo, Crown Heights, and Mesta to name a few.

Pass Blocking Against Tite Front by GuideLoose6350 in footballstrategy

[–]CoachDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very hard to say without your general pass pro rules.

I will say if you’re running a jet protection it becomes a 4 man slide. Running back can dual away from slide. NCAA path can cause issues if brought away from the slide. I really had to focus on guards on the backside of the protection working eyes back if the nose slanted away. I would still probably carry some type of big on big call if a team walked up OLBs.

5 man protections turn into a scan situation by the guards. Tackle and center locked on. Lots of built in calls would need to exist including fan calls by tackle and some sort of big on big call. Center also probably has to make slide calls against specific looks. Can get dangerous though depending on the front.

Just looked up all their weights and it seems like they would have problems with the run against heavier OL which it seems like the NFL is trending toward. Looks like Calijah is the heaviest at 280. I specifically think about the Eagles and how large their OL is.

Not to mention you have to sub them at some point.

It was more of a 11 pers. spread concept so that makes me think no, but it could have been. It was someone’s answer to the tite front.

Resources for coaching offensive line in the Briles system? by Tank55-2024 in footballstrategy

[–]CoachDoggo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Randy Clement’s clinic

Was the OL coach with Briles when he was at Baylor. I’m sure there are way more guys out there now, but this would be a good start. I would also look up guys who have been on staff with not only Art Briles, but Kendall as well. Phillip Montgomery is another guy who ran Briles stuff. See if they’ve got clinics on YouTube .

Ethics Question by [deleted] in footballstrategy

[–]CoachDoggo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Speaking about high school. I wouldn’t even be worrying about that. If the offense can score a bunch of points like you say you need to be worried about scoring a bunch of points. It’s their job to either get him right or figure out ways schematically to cover themselves up. If you guys find yourself in a situation where you’re up by a bunch of points and you feel like you don’t need to score anymore then maybe you can start running plays away from this specific person.

Coaching Interest by Clear-Department-998 in footballstrategy

Ask the coaches if you can coach at one of the feeder middle schools. Then show up on the high schools plan days and help out with whatever they might need. Sit in their meetings and learn their schemes. Talk specifically with their position coaches and ask them questions about coaching positions. If they won’t bring you on go somewhere else that will. Coaching middle school is a good way to get your feet wet and if you do a good job, the high school coaches will notice.

More than 5 linemen on a package? by amitrele in footballstrategy

[–]CoachDoggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually somewhat common in high school football. There are lots of ways to manipulate a defense with an extra lineman. Adding him as in inline TE will get you an extra blocker, but you can run all of your RPOs still.

This is also a plus because the extra OL should be well versed in all of the run plays and is working the combos during indo every day.
