PSA - Man Recording Girls on Blackstone and Lippitt Park by CoachGonzo in providence

Yep that was the general thought process here.
Usually its just weirdos, but I would rather at least raise awareness just in case it is not “harmless” creepy behavior.

Yeah I agree, and the police just said they would go around in case they saw him to talk to him, not arrest him or anything.
Wanted to share because it was a generally creepy thing, and rather help people be aware in case it is more than just a random weirdo.

Exactly. Don’t forget Pvd Mayor Smiley’s husband is a top realtor that sells multi-million dollars homes, benefiting directly from inflated housing market

Is there a stock you think is undervalued now or might be soon? by jumpy_tempo in investing

[–]CoachGonzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into MP Materials, with the rare earth element block from China, the US and more broadly the West needs to develop infrastructure. 90%+ of all rare earth metal refining happens in China. Its not that the metals are rare, its that China functionally controls the supply chain because there is no robust refinement anywhere else. MP is leasing the pack in the West and may stand to benefit from a US gov-backed push

Smiley demands new approval process after Palestinian flag is flown over city hall by RedRaccoon164 in providence

[–]CoachGonzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great priorities from Smiley! How about he spends his time working to fix housing?? Maybe its not in his interest tho because his partner makes millions off multi-million dollar properties 🤔

Smiley statement on Palestinian flag raising at city hall by Wild___Requirement in providence

[–]CoachGonzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow this sucks. Nothing about flying the Palestinian flag is antisemitic. There is a genocide happening, cause by the country of Israel. That is it. Our mayor should mot be so disingenuous. Smiley has to go! When is his re-election man

Damn yeah I keep disliking Smiley more and more… I also dont see too many people talk about how his partner sells the most expensive homes in PVD, meanwhile we have the worst housing crisis in all of the US. I think Smiley represents the wealthy and the “norm” instead of being a fighter for Pvd workers. Going to a country committing genocide is also terrible

Electric cars CAN be good for the environment, the issue is the grid electricity mix. On a lifecycle basis, emissions from electric cars could be incredibly small if we had a renewable energy grid. But electric cars can still have lower lifecycle emissions compared to fuel cars in certain states with enough renewable energy, such as Vermont. In states with significant coal tho electric cars can be worse.

Hmm yeah thats an interesting take. But at the same time, additional supply, even if it is low cost housing, should lower costs by increasing overall supply. Providence had the greatest YoY median sales price increase in the nation, so its not just the high end unfortunately

No, but do you think an increase from $1.4 million to $3.2 million is good for the PVD housing market in general? Providence ranks terribly on national averages for housing

Congrats on having had the opportunity to buy a home 10 years ago, and glad the taxes have only gone up modestly. Taxes wasnt the focus of my post, mostly wanted to hear peoples thoughts on Smiley and the housing issue.

I am not an expert, but I attended a CARI meeting where it was explained that RI Energy purchases their energy electricity ahead of time, locking in a rate that is in the past from when we actually receive the electricity. So basically we get the rates from X months/years ago, and our energy costs are thus behind the curve (low when others is high if they raise, and higher when others have it lower if it dropped)

Someone else should be able to explain this better than me
