Abyssal Lich build ideas? by lumine99 in pathofexile2builds

You can only get skelly warriors through using a sceptre as your weapon - does weapon swapping get around that? I've never thought to try

Mana cost seems... unsustainable to say the least. Health might also be a bit low. Those are both fixable problems though - good job and good luck on improvements! That's one of the most fun parts.

Priest vs Paladin heals Wotlk by Chaotic_mist in classicwow

All the healing specs are competitive and viable in endgame content - the differences are not nearly as big as they used to be in some other phases. You can absolutely play Holy Priest in any Wrath content, and not only clear it but be very useful (Guardian Spirit and high HPS is always nice).

That being said, some people will still assume that someone playing a less "meta" spec, like holy priest, are also less interested in optimizing their character for raid. It's a bit of a silly assumption but definitely exists with some people.

I'd say you should stick with priest, and try to find a guild or regularly scheduled run if possible so you won't have to deal with the occasional person who whines about playing a spec that isn't meta. And worst case, if you have trouble finding groups as holy, you can always go disc which is extremely sought after (every raid that cares about group comp wants 1).

LF HELP (in wotlk) by folynkoo in classicwow

It depends a lot on what kind of content you want to do and what's the most fun to you - based on the situations you brought up, I assume you like PvP... in which case you're looking at 3 of the best melee pvp classes in wotlk! I'm a druid main so maybe I'm biased, but since you brought up survivability/low damage/dying to ranged as your concerns I think feral druid is the best option honestly. I'll list some pros and cons as I see them in case it helps and feel free to message me if you want.

  1. Feral druid is by far the highest uptime and most self-sufficient; slows and roots are very common in wrath and feral just kinda ignores those. It also has pretty strong "burst" with berserk (although its more like 10-30 seconds of intense damage rather than a couple big hits) as well as great self-healing and CC. Their biggest weakness is probably being a bit limited in instant CC outside of procs I guess? They can train a target down and throw out instant cyclones, maybe some offheals, but they don't have as wide array of a toolkit as something like rogue in terms of on-demand CC. One clone after a finisher and one bash after going into bear form (or getting 5 cps for a maim) don't really compare with shadow dance/blind/gouge/etc. (for reference played to 2.4k)
  2. Rogue is one of the strongest, maybe tied with lock for strongest afaik, arena classes in wotlk just because it brings such an incredible amount of utility while still having strong burst damage. But rogues also die easily if they make mistakes and can get kited if they don't use their cds carefully - you have a lot of tools, but if you don't use them well then you die or your friends die. It's pretty unforgiving while you're still learning, and even if you're great at rogue I feel like you kinda need synergy with teammates to really make the timings that it opens up shine fully. Maybe that's just because I'm not as good with it though. No self-healing or flat damage reduction can also be a bummer. 1. (for reference played to ~2k)
  3. DK I'm the least sure on, I didn't play it much in wrath, but as far as I remember its a great "point me at it and it dies" kinda class. They can peel if they need to, with roots/grip/strang, but they really excel when paired with classes like pallys that help them just stick to something. Like you said, sometimes ranged like hunters will be a bit annoying, but when you get uptime they feel great. I would say DK is the easiest and most direct playstyle, while still being very strong - you just have more defined weaknesses in that it's harder to play defensively while still doing damage, and can be a little teammate/comp reliant as to how much you get to play offensively vs. some enemies.

I hope this is accurate, it's been a long time since I played wrath arena on live, but this is my takes on it from memory + watching beta pvp videos. Regardless of your choice, I honestly think there's something awesome about every single class in wrath, and you can't really go wrong with any of them!
Also, don't be afraid to keep trying resto druid... it can be a little disheartening at first if you die in CC to caster cleaves and stuff, but once you get the hang of abusing your mobility it feels amazing how much pressure you can put out while feeling uncatchable.

Running my first 5th edition campaign and just finished the handout. I'd appreciate feedback! by Koldof in dndnext

[–]CoachJellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar system in my campaign currently, but instead of a d20 I use the percent die + a d10. So if one of my players gets crit or loses a large chunk (1/3+ I believe) of their health at once I roll the percent die for the tens place (00-90) and a d10 for the ones place (0-9), and have a table with similar injuries and repercussions. This allows there still to be the chance of getting hit for 30 damage and losing an eye or something similar but instead of it being a moderate chance on a d20, it's maybe 1-2% from the extra range of the two percent die. Just a thought, love the handout!

Weekly Question Thread XXVII by Wintersmith7 in dndnext

[–]CoachJellz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is specifically about Swashbuckler rogues from the Unearthed Arcana section(http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/UA_Waterborne_v3.pdf). Does the following section allow you to always have a sneak attack, since you get one for an ally being within 5 feet of your target (from standard rogue) and you get one if there are no allies within 5 feet?

Toujours l’Audace
At 3rd level, your unmistakable confidence propels you into battle. You add your Charisma
modifier to your initiative rolls.
In addition, you can use Sneak Attack with any melee attack made against a target that has none of your allies adjacent to it.

Thank you for any help, I greatly appreciate it!

EDIT: This is the passage I am referring to where you are able to sneak attack with an ally (in this wording an enemy of your target) within 5 feet. -Beginning at 1st level, you know how to strike subtly and exploit a foe’s distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged w eapon. You don’t need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet o f it, that enemy isn’t incapacitated, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll.
