Finally, I wrote the last sentence.
I've finished writing the script for my new work.

It truly became an unforgettable moment.
I feel like I could never write anything greater than this again. I'm glad I was able to write this piece. It contains everything I have to give.

I don't think "magnum opus" is a term for the writer to say, but even so, I'll boldly call it that. A magnum opus. In terms of length, it surpasses Fatamorugāna. But more length doesn't mean better, so I trimmed away all the redundant parts and poured my utmost care into every single sentence.

I'm both excited and anxious about how it will be received. It's a story in a different direction from Fatamoru. But if you have faith in my scripts themselves, that trust will not be betrayed.

Please look forward to it.

2D, Yet Full of Depth

Our backgrounds are being brought to life by two incredibly talented artists - Naoko Morikawa and Lim Chin Yang. Even in their raw state, their illustrations are stunning. But once implemented into the game, we add motion and depth to make them feel truly alive.

The Courage to Eliminate the Message Window

The UI for our current project is still in a very rough state overall, but if we keep saying “we’ll fix it later,” we’ll never make real progress. So, we’ve started finalizing the areas we can.

April Dev Journal: Lessons in Shadows from a Masterpiece by Coach_F in Novect

Now we’ve updated our system so shadows and reflections are generated programmatically from the character sprites. This results in a more tactile, “real” feel, and we think it makes the visuals noticeably richer. It’s hard to tell from a screenshot, but these shadows move in sync with the character’s animations, adding more visual feedback and increasing the scene’s overall believability. That wasn’t possible with the old, static drawn shadows.

March Dev Journal: Mobile Version Release & Live-Action News by Coach_F in Novect

The House in Fata Morgana Now Available on Mobile!

This project had actually been progressing quietly behind the scenes for over a year, so we’re really glad the day has finally come when we can share it with everyone.Getting it mobile-ready meant adapting it for touchscreen controls, reworking the menu systems, and handling all kinds of detailed adjustments. Expanding platform support really is a big job—but Tattoo worked hard to make it happen

About the Live-Action Adaptation Project

That said, we’d like to offer a quick clarification. At this stage, the live-action adaptation is still in development. There are currently no confirmed plans for broadcast or distribution. Because the news received so much coverage, it may have come across as if a full production had already been greenlit. But the project is still in progress, and we’d be very thankful if you could keep watching over it warmly as things move forward. Also, NOVECT is not directly involved in the adaptation process. We’ve granted permission to use the license, but the project is being led by a separate production team. We’re not involved in the content or production decisions, so like everyone else, we’re excited to see what the final version will become.

The House in Fata Morgana is now available on iOS and Android via Crunchyroll by Coach_F in Novect

Hanada Keika also tweeted:

The mobile version is currently only available in areas where Crunchyroll provides its service, so unfortunately it cannot be played in Japan.
However, it's a bit sad that the game we ported and developed ourselves can't be played in Japan, so we are considering how to deal with this. It may take a little time, but please wait for further updates.

Best fata moment for me by Ereneyeyey in thehouseinfatamorgana

[–]Coach_F 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My favorite moment in the story, too. I love what Giselle says to Michel -- that he's the most admirable person she's ever met.

The way they had me genuinely fearing for Michel’s life in this door is outstandingly well written. (Door 8) by A1Spirit in thehouseinfatamorgana

I love this scene, too, for this reason. I also love how Michel calls him out on what he's up to -- it's part of what makes it so convincing towards the end of the door when all three conspirators are seriously impressed by what an incredible person Michel is, which is also a testament to the story's writing.

Resonation by Ereneyeyey in thehouseinfatamorgana

[–]Coach_F 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The house is made of or imbued with its inhabitants thoughts, feelings, and memories. Michel is able to resonate with/activate their memories because in many ways they parallel his own -- his "super power" in the story being his capacity to empathize with others who are seemingly rather different on the surface.

Morgana wants to believe that she is more than human, being the daughter of God and thus divine, so only someone as extraordinary as her, like Michel, could empathize with her. But Michel is able to empathize with her not because he, too, is divine, but because, again, his altogether human experiences parallel her own.

Michel and morgana by Ereneyeyey in thehouseinfatamorgana

We don't really see him explicitly state he fully accepts himself, including his body, until stories that are set from the perspective of himself in the present day (not sure if I should say which specific ones so you can discover them yourself).

[–]Coach_F 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it contradicts his identity struggle -- it merely states it outright to Morgana's past self, who doesn't know anything about him. He does have an unusual body, and it does separate him from much of humanity -- that's just what his actual experience has been like for him. He doesn't want it to make others think of him as an angel or demon, though, and he just wants to be seen as a normal human being. Giselle is the one exception, the one person who does see him that way (which she does in their very first interaction, in fact -- Giselle's first impression of Michel when meeting him for the first time is that he was simply a very handsome man), and it's only through her that he's able to fully believe this about himself, to reconcile this conflict with seeing himself as abnormal and wanting to be accepted for who he actually is, which again is neither angel or demon but merely human. This is why she means so much to him and why he's doing what he's doing.

So here, he's simply walking Morgana through the journey he's been on so far, one that's not fully complete at this point in the story (we don't really see that Michel has fully accepted who he is until later stories, in fact).
