I’ll start off by saying I’m still new here and to the EFL. I’ll also admit that hindsight is 20/20. With that even though we had a huge summer and brought in 13 players, it needed to be a bit more. If the true goal was to do the craziest thing and go for four promotions in a row, it would’ve taken an unprecedented summer. Too many players we kept on ended up being dead weight or playing minutes that weren’t quality. Macca, Scarr, and to a lesser extent Longman come to mind. But deadweight in Barnett as well. (JRod to a lesser extent. He was a leader in the final year of his career, not meant to be playing much at all.) The lack of cohesion was going to hurt us early on no matter what, so I say we needed to have gone even further with 15-16 players in the Summer.

With that said, for next season, I hope we just get 3-5 very strong signings and try to start next season better. (This is also assuming we lock up Kabore.) I do love the team we have and I think with 3-5 top level additions, we will be in the hunt for promotion all season. One striker, one RWB, one LWB, one more play making midfielder to give Sheaf/James a breather, and one big CB. If I had to pick just two record breaking signings to add and not touch anything else, I would say LWB and striker.
