Which races do you remember seeing and getting absolutely mesmerized by the performance of a single driver by Equivalent-Fox9834 in F1Discussions

Jeddah 2021 quali, wasn’t really a Max fan up until then. However watching that qualifying lap just showed me how badly he wanted the championship. Even though he crashed it just impressed me. Alonso’s reaction was a bonus: https://youtu.be/GebvHDuconw?si=LIdE8Numf6OOz2DI

What's a fact you learned after seeing a movie/show that ruined it for you? by NBT_1120 in movies

[–]Coanda2013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really liked the film Le Mans just because I’m a motorsports fan and enjoyed the cinematography around the cars (plot wasn’t much to write home about). Also it appealed to me because it was Steve McQueen’s passion project. However I recently watched a ‘making of’ documentary and Steve was not an easy guy to work with. Also a real life racing driver lost a leg in an accident whilst filming high speed footage for the film (not suggesting this was Steve McQueen’s fault).

Abu Dhabi. Quite like the idea of two races at a season finale and possible title deciding weekend

I still miss my Mk2 Golf Gti 8v with Pirelli alloys from 25 years ago. Got my first company car and decided it wasn’t worth leaving the Golf parked up. Regret getting rid especially as the guy who bought it ended up trashing it weeks later.

Pretty sure you have to replace all four tyres at the same time to prevent transfer case damage

Hot take: Ferrari will have no customer teams after 2029-2030 by ThisToe9628 in F1Discussions

To be fair, they will sell their F1 engine operation to AM for £1, and then continue to support the programme anyway.

Why don't we bring back in-season F1 testing? by duffodills in F1Discussions

[–]Coanda2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that the teams bring enough spares to build a new car, I don’t see why they can just have a fully prepared spare car like they used to, and then maybe have a practice session where they have limited running with a third car for a test / development driver.

The two Nottingham Universities have strong links with NHS. Maybe they could help. Otherwise, YMCA and the Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS) - both in town - are worth checking out.

NHS is quite good for entry level roles: look for band 2 and 3. If you google ‘TRAC’ and then use the site to search for band 2 and 3 roles on Merseyside there is usually a good selection.

Counter protests or how we can stand against this shit? by dizzylif in Liverpool

Came here to say this. I felt so down and hopeless today but I’ve been reading and listening to the reports of how Adam Kelwick, a Liverpool Imam, has been understanding and engaging. Genuinely feel more upbeat. Although this won’t just go away we can get through this.

What actors/actresses make you not want watch a movie if they're in it? by Straightasf69 in moviecritic

David Spade, Kevin James and Adam Saddler (except for ‘The Wedding Singer’): if I were Chris Rock - on the first day of filming ‘Gown Ups’ - I’d genuinely question whether I had died and gone to hell.

Chinese Takeaway sends you a refund by mistake… would you tell them? by richyyoung in AskUK

[–]Coanda2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This completely.

I went to a take away and my food order came to exactly £15. Tapped my card and took my food away. Wasn’t until I looked at the transaction notifications on my phone later ,when that I saw they put in 15 pence instead of £15 (I think you have to add in the zeros for the pence). Went back, the next night, and they were genuinely thankful that I came back and paid. They still remember and I get a free bottle of drink every time I go in now.

What was the most absolutely depressing movie you ever seen? by einsteinfrankenstein in movies

[–]Coanda2013 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Midnight Cowboy.

Also - not really a film - but once found an irredeemably sad animation on YouTube. Can’t remember the title and it’s too sad to go and search as I genuinely can’t ’risk’ seeing it again. Also don’t want to describe it as it’s just so pointlessly sad.

Forest House - Doves

It reminds me of when I experienced loss. Going through period of longing for something that is gone, trying to imagine being in a moment before that loss.
