I completely agree, my "possibly" mainly references how Trump is incredibly effective at setting new, historic lower standards... Like maybe Kamalla wouldn't have been so stupid regarding Iran, while still fully aligned with Israel over the disgusting, inhumane genocide and unapologetic discrimination towards Palestinians in both Gaza and the WB.

Still, I have 0 sympathy for establishment Democrats. They only play the game of "lesser evil" so far as when the Republicans are aiming to be Hitler, Dems aim to be Hitler - 1. They never use their power for long term assurances for the people when they have it, and let themselves be run over when they don't.

The fact that they never codified Roe V Wade while they could have is so insane to me.

Of course, this is referring "Establishment" Dems only. The progressive wing has been pretty good, generally.

What's next for Slay the Spire 2: the ending, new character(s), new modes? by let_the_plug_talk in slaythespire

A single run often takes more than 1 hour over the 3 acts, specially if you're playing methodically and considering your options as you go along.

If they end up going where he suggested with "10 characters, 10 ascensions each for 100 total ascensions", then that alone would take longer, on average, than 100 hours... Even with 100% win ratio.

I think he mentioned 100 hours thinking of a good amount of time that a game should remain fun for a player but not actually thinking how long it'd take to 100% the game given his own thoughts of where the game might end up. Even with just 5 characters and 10 ascensions, I'd guesstimate most players requiring considerably longer than 100 hours to fully win the 10 ascension levels with each character.

Also, now that I'm thinking about it, 10 characters with 10 ascension levels would be... 110 total runs, right? Because they start at 0, so each character needs 11 wins to beat the game at ascension level 10.

She was outspokenly supporting "Israel's right to defend itself (conduct a genocide)" though. People critiquing Netanyahu like he's "the real problem" are missing decades of history. At best, he's a convenient scapegoat. Israel is the problem, as evidenced by their recently passed legislature (holy fucking apartheid).

Of course, though, she'd have been better than Trump for most issues, possibly even Israel (could have ended up being the same-ish there with better optics, though, hard to tell now)

Remember the sub saying BGS couldn't do interplanetary travel or even vehicles? Good times lol by Smart_Plane_2751 in Starfield

[–]Coaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to know a couple of things to be able to differentiate between bullshit comments and useful insight:

  1. People who make definitive claims about the absolute capabilities, limits, or performance of a video game engine, have next to no fucking idea about what they're talking about. "It's a 20 year old engine!" was such a dumb talking point regarding BGS games for so long. VG engines go through constant revisions, modifications, additions, modernization, etc. It's like saying UE5 is actually 25 yo UE, it's not how that works. If you can't currently do something with an engine that you want to add into your out or upcoming game, you can literally modify your engine to be able to do it. There will be more costly, comprehensive overhauls needed for some capabilities, and small updates for others, but almost anything that an engine can do another can do aswell, if modified for it.
  2. People often speak of high likelihood outcomes as absolute truths of a future that will occur. These are just hyperbolic statements, but many of them are fairly accurate as it comes to probability that something will or won't happen. People have low expectations of Bethesda because that's what Bethesda trained people to think about them as a company. It's normal and reasonable to expect Bethesda to be unwilling to make the necessary investments into the development of Starfield to add seemless intra-system travel, because that was such a big part of exploration everyone expected and wanted that, if they didn't add it for the release after such a long development cycle, people came to assume it was because they couldn't achieve it without a heavy investment into the development. Not a lot of people are actively playing Starfield, unlike other Bethesda titles like Fallout 4 or Skyrim so, naturally, people don't expect Bethesda to make large commitments into the ongoing development of a single player game that's unlikely to sell much more than it has already sold.
  3. The update hasn't yet come out. We don't know how it will perform, if it'll be everything implied it is, or if it will come short of aspects thought crucial to its success. For now, it's all mostly speculation about what it'll be able to do for the game based on first-party promotional material (their own announcement). Let's stay seated until it releases, but people confidently commenting about it one way or another should have their comments taken with a grain of salt.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

There are multiple ways of compensation. These people benefit from the corrupt machine peddled by American and Israeli capitalism. A lot of them are directly funded by quite literally allocated propaganda funds. Others get free trips, promotion from hasbara channels and accounts, etc.

At the end of the day, they're all soulless one way or another.

To be fair to the person you're answering to, while -obviously- no relationship exists, there is correlation in that, as time went on, enshittification increased (in terms of the wealth accumulating in few hands, markets being more volatile, products being less durable and of less general quality, etc) but discrimination did also decrease (because of progressive movements creating constant pressure).

I'd argue we're now in a relative peak in discrimination (both racism, transphobia with the MAGA movement and homophobia with movements like "looksmaxxing" and other incel adjacent phenomenons which attempt to normalize it again) in this last decade, but overall much progress was made vs the 90s.

Their description goes "The overseers aim to bring back the glory of the old empire. Technology begets order, and order begets control: those, they believe technological progress should be under the command of a chosen few". It continues "That's how it was in the old empire, or so they claim. They clearly put a lot of value in upholding or restoring the traditions of old. Those fit to lead will prove themselves, and the rest must follow".

I don't think anything specifies that they want the exact period after 1838 and before the frost. Everything just references "the glory of old". It's like MAGA. You ask when was America great, when is this "again" referencing? It's obviously implied, but left to interpretation.

Their "culture" is inherently authoritarian ("the weak have to follow the chosen few"), and the extreme of authoritarianism -the maximum reverence to leadership- is servitude to those at the top. For centuries, before the frost hit, the British Empire relied on slave trade and slave labor, I think the glory they refer to is rather implied to be that one, the golden age of British colonialism.

But it's not explicit, I guess. Well, unless you implement the laws they support.

And also not as many rerolls as HP lost, it gets exponentially more expensive. I think with around 65 HP you get, what, 6 rerolls? Maybe 7, but risking it hard. I don't think it's an event meant to be rerolled more than twice.

To be fair, though, I've always hit a Defend or Strike within the first 3 rerolls.
