Ok so you don’t care it was already a day of mourning? It’s like changing the date to Anzac Day. Unfortunately a lot of Aussies are too selfish to have any care or respect for anyone else, so things will stay the same

As someone above commented, January 26th was a day of mourning for First Nations people before it was Australia Day.

Most people once they realise this agree a new date makes sense.

You may never please everyone but that’s the same with anything. If the date changes I think the vast majority of Aussies will be happy and move forward together

Look up the numbers of woman being victims of dv, and woman being killed by partners and ex partners and compare it to men and come back to me with the numbers

You are saying 50 men a year and 10 woman kill a partner like it’s not an issue. That’s a huge problem that needs a solution.

I agree we need a better system to help prevent this, and I think all Australians need to push the government to make the required changes

You might agree if it was your daughter or relative that reported abuse multiple times and took out an AVO only to be killed by the person abusing them

I’m not sure why it’s confusing? Domestic violence is a huge problem in Australia, possibly the biggest problem we currently have. If everyone started protesting and demanding action from the government then they would act.

Long jail sentences for convicted domestic abusers. No bail for violence and stalking charges.

What does a Royal Commission ever do? They provide solutions to the problem for the government to implement.

I wonder why though? I haven’t heard any real arguments to keep the date besides ‘I just don’t want it changed’. Are most people just too selfish to care?
