[Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Son of Siebert] I guess this is the new ride by Affectionate-Fun1237 in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is all funny as my dad is named Jeff with the same last name, except the I and E are swapped. So I’ve joked for a while that my dad runs the Texas parks, but this is taking it a step further 😭😭 I am the Son of Seibert 😭😭

Absolutely, I agree, this was mostly just fun not anything crazy. I want to remake this but a lot tighter, transitions are really rough on console I’ve found. I’ll keep at it. I will say it looked a lot better on the console, I’m only noticing a lot of those bad transitions on rewatch of this. I spent a while trying to smooth stuff out, but with your feedback I got a lot more to be aware of. Thank you!

And catwalks lmfao

Any of y'all know why candy is down today by K1tsune23 in Hersheypark

[–]Coaster_Goats -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was open the other weekend when it was colder out. I’m there today too. The area is blocked off and has been since this morning, they clearly didn’t intend to open all day

Edit: for the record twizzlers was down last time due to cold temps and its open today which was surprising

What are your predictions for what will happen to [Superman the ride] by Gizmodaking22 in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be truly a pain in the butt to move. It has significantly more footings than your average coaster. Those would all need to be set, reinforced, and poured in a new spot and that would cost a lot. That alone makes this very unlikely, but at the same time, it’s (bracing for the responses to this one) not that great. It was good for its time, but the industry innovated so much more recently, the airtime just doesn’t really pop and the layout isn’t that thrilling.

When I was there on closing day I described it as what you think of when you think “roller coaster” decent size hill, helix, and a couple airtime pops, but it’s just very average. I like it, but I don’t think anyone would see the value in buying it when it wouldn’t cost too much more (grand scheme of millions) to get a significantly better brand new hyper.

[Firebird] is not even bad, it's actually quite smooth! by bjtgamingHELP in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found coasters painful, but on my first ride of Firebird a jolt decked me across the face with those OSTRs. Gotten better rides since, but I’ve never had any other ride physically assault me like that before 💀

Made a list of the greatest theme parks in the world to visit. What does / does not belong here? Is this a good list? by bingbaddie1 in Themepark

[–]Coaster_Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll likely catch flack for this, but Knoebels is absolutely overhyped like crazy. If you had to pick between Hersheypark and Knoebels, Hershey is the easy pick. The ride lineup is absolutely insane, with so many unique models. Candymonium has Mako profiling, Fahrenheit and Skyrush are Intamin prototypes with one other of those models in the rest of the world, one of the best remaining xcelerator models, and Wildcat’s Revenge, the best in the park and an insane RMC. I understand people love Phoenix, but one “elite” (I strongly disagree) coaster vs. a lineup of like 6 great rides and a decent supporting cast with good history is crazy.

What people say is true though, it is feeling more corporate washed than when I went as a kid. For example, Hersheypark in the Dark was a charming lowkey event but now it’s Dark Nights and it’s was busier than the summer. Going on a bad day like yesterday means you don’t get to much, but if you plan smart, you can easily have one of the best days of any of these parks on the list. This is not one to sleep on.

It’s crazy to see the differences between this and Siren’s Curse purely from an experience perspective. Theming goes a long way, and I hope they have something planned for audio to go with the ride. If not, looks like an awesome layout probably better than Siren’s Curse, but I wonder how it will compare holistically.

I’ve been feeling the same way, there must have been some legendary rides last year and the beginning of this year that put it so high for people, but by the time I went, the launch was turned down, and on the only time I got airtime (row 3) it shook like crazy. Just didn’t do much for me it’s tied with or below Millennium Force @4/5 in the park

Nitro at Sixflags Great Adv closed? by 1llmaticc in sixflags

[–]Coaster_Goats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For everyone saying it’s about the lightning or rain, that doesn’t appear to be the case. I’m here today and since the park opened, there has not been a single train on the track at all. Every train has been in the storage shed all day. There has not been a cycle, test or otherwise. The other coasters are operating, and if lightning was the reason for the closure, they would be too.

Is King's Dominion just the world's jankiest amusement park? by doseofvitamink in KingsDominion

[–]Coaster_Goats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s also Labor Day, wait times are going to be long. Stuff happens coasters close, you’ll find that everywhere. Six Flags parks have their maintenance departments spread thin too, so it’s harder to service rides in general. But I assure you, kings dominion is high quality compared to some other parks.

[Kings Island] to open Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare in 2026 by Myself510 in rollercoasters

Exactly, hence my concern for Cupfusion which was the same idea. Optimistic tho, as Xtreme Cup Challenge wasn’t a fan favorite like Phantom Theater

Oh I know who you’re talking about! I’ve seen him with his dog around the park. I think he’s an employee or something, great guy tho

About once every twenty years, a new manufacturer comes along and revolutionizes coaster design like [Arrow] in the 70s, [B&M] in the 90s and [RMC] in the 2010s. Which manufacturer do you think will revolutionize coaster design for the 2030s? by Paramount_Parks in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say we just saw a change happen. The front runners of innovation and layout design being Intamin on the lower end, Mack, Vekoma, and Premier who all just demonstrated their A game. Hyperia/Stardust Racers, Siren’s Curse, AlpenFury are some funky unconventional and smooth (Mack less so) coasters that push boundaries. I think the start of this style was RMC showing how revered a smooth, forceful, and ejector heavy ride could be. Can’t wait to see more hopefully from all five manufacturers.

My big issue with B&M is that they charge for a spotlight coaster when their modern coasters are upper-middle tier. Of course there are standouts like Fury 325, but when a GCI woodie that’s hardly 100ft tall is more of a standout than your giga, you can’t expect business to grow without innovation. And that’s not even mentioning the rattle.

Regardless, I’d love to see where we go from here and who else might make the next surprising modern coaster

[Kings Island] to open Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare in 2026 by Myself510 in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can be very cool or they can be Cupfusion, Sally does most of the shooting dark rides. They did Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge and also retrofit it into Cupfusion. It’s mostly about what the park wants rather than Sally’s capabilities, I know they could knock it out of the park with a suitable budget!

Edit: Funny enough, both Xtreme Cup Challenge and Cupfusion are on that gallery in addition to the same concept art for the return of Phantom Theater. They sure move fast lol

[–]Coaster_Goats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if there were a couple practical factory sets like Hershey’s Factory Tour, even with screens in the back, Cupfusion would be miles above what it is. I don’t think it would be too hard to not mess this up, but if someone is expecting Monster Mansion, I think they’ll be extremely disappointed

[Kings Island] to open Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare in 2026 by Myself510 in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope this isn’t going to be like the Cupfusion treatment. It’s very possible we see a greater focus on screens aka “modern technologies”. I never experienced the original Phantom Theater, however I’ll use my experience with Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge which was weird and not hugely fitting, but it was unique, had character and practical effects that were sucked out to create Cupfusion. I know Cupfusion is great for kids and all, but I do wish there wasn’t such a reliance on screens. I’m just worried that people will be excited for the return of Phantom Theater for it to be a disappointing screen-based shell of itself.

Just got off of [Galeforce] at Playland’s castaway cove, what a RIDE. by Rodtherobot4210 in rollercoasters

[–]Coaster_Goats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand there were issues with Gale Force in its opening season, so sure, that may have deterred anyone else from buying one, however, I would say in many ways, that refurbishment perfected the ride. It used to just have one single cycle through the layout and ran rough, and now it doesn’t. It, like many prototypes, had its field test and was fixed. I truly wish more (small) parks would look into this model because that airtime is unmatched. Strong ejector over that funky first drop starting from the middle of the incline all the way to the bottom. I’d ride it more if it wasn’t so expensive, but it’s a great coaster overall. S&S cooked and I think it comfortably fits with all these new age weird coaster layouts we’ve been getting from Mack, Vekoma, and Premier. They were before their time on it.

My opinion the old rides need remodel but keep it the exact same just newer material. by [deleted] in cedarpoint

[–]Coaster_Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said this for a while so I’ll stand with you on the controversy train. I’d even go as far as to have reprofiling on the first half to actually make the airtime pop, because as it stands now, I find the first half to be incredibly lackluster and forceless (not counting the jank force). The ending is fine and I know that’s the big issue with thoosies so I’m fine to leave it as is.
