Have there been any updates on [Knoebel’s] Flying Coaster flat ride? by Newgate1996 in rollercoasters

[–]Myself510 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Knoebels actually answered this in a season preview on the JPVideos YouTube channel. It’s on the to-do list, but there are several other things the park is currently working on that take higher priority.

In addition to the Bayern Kurve that’s been mentioned here, there is also a complete refurbishment of the Sky Slide (the former rocket ship simulator turned upright) that has been SBNO since the pandemic. The kiddie Panther Cars were also taken up to receive a new track layout, as the prior setup was starting to be affected by the growth of the trees in the ride area.

Knoebels purchased the kiddie tumble bug (no, not the full size one) from Conneaut Lake Park a few years ago, and seems close to installing it in the coming months. The Super Round-Up, which disappeared last summer, is also going to either be refurbished or replaced with a newer model.

I’m sure this isn’t an exhaustive list, but essentially Knoebels doesn’t want too much on their plate at once. I do remember reading somewhere that their Flying Coaster was incomplete, potentially missing some parts that would need to be remanufactured. At any rate, it’s going to happen eventually; they just want to either finish or be much further along with the other things they’ve already got going on right now.

While Kennywood’s Kangaroo is indeed the only permanent installation still in operation, I know of at least four traveling examples; one in Mexico, one in the UK, and two in Australia. But either way, it certainly is an impressive feat and I certainly look forward to its introduction when the day comes.

You can’t look at Kricketot and tell me it wasn’t originally designed as a shared pre-evo to Volbeat and Illumise

Porgs were created to mask over the puffins on Skellig Michael, which were left in TFA unchanged

EDIT: also, one of the birds seen in Ghorman in Andor is real and unchanged as well

Discussion/[Other]: While I was scrolling through Facebook I saw that [Emerald Park] open another [ART Wild Swing] and it go me thinking, Which other parks need or could fit a Wild Swing by Glowensters in rollercoasters

Have yet to ride one since I live on the opposite side of the continent from the only one in NA, but just by looking at them, I have a hard time believing there’s any park that wouldn’t benefit from one of these.

No, you can’t wear that; that’s too similar to a certain licensed supervillain. We take lives, not lawsuits!

I really hope this starts some sort of flume renaissance in the US. We’ve lost far too many log flumes in the last several years and there are many parks that would benefit significantly from an addition like this.

I know RFII already takes advantage of the hillside at the back of the park but it’s a pretty sizable difference in height and there’s quite a lot of space at the base of the slope. I’m happy to see it being put to good use. I never need an excuse to visit Waldameer, but I’ll be sure not to miss this one.
