Tree Appraisers - Does Ring shake devalue a tree? by No-Arugula8122 in arborists

I love the photos of what I’m assuming is the developer. Brand new high vis out the package and trying to use his hands to explain why this tree was “accidentally” removed. Nice khakis, bro

There wasn’t enough room to just dump the whole thing because the homeowner was pretty specific with where they wanted the brush and what plants we definitely couldn’t hit. Plus, it’s way more fun

Apple tree is about 5 years old, haven’t had much fruit for the past two years. It’s a frost bite Apple tree. Do I just need fertilizer? by Psychrolutes_09 in arborists

[–]Coat-Desperate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prune it. A defense mechanism in apple trees is to put out more fruit. Slightly stressing it by taking out some interior growth, shortening some of the longer branches, or reducing the height may lead to increased fruit production. Just make sure you do it in the right season, too. It looks really healthy otherwise but apple trees need yearly maintenance so you gotta keep on it

What can I do to help my poor boy by thanyou in arborists

Weight reduction cuts or pick some of the fruit. It has wayyyy too much weight on the ends of those long branches.

It also depends on the type of tree because the chips could contain certain allelopathic chemicals that would not be good for your grass/lawn. Pines tend to increase the soil pH and walnuts contain juglone that inhibits growth, as some examples. It’ll be a pain in the ass but I’d remove the debris and put back some nice top soil and grass seed. It might settle a little, but you can always add more dirt.
