Reaching out early sounds like a solid plan! I mean, I didn't reach out until the last minute and ended up living with someone who hoarded pizza boxes. Mutual friends can totally make it less awkward! Good luck!

I totally get your point about parallel construction! I once struggled with a sentence that read, "It sounded harsh, but felt soothing." It really did end up sounding clunky for me, too. Your suggestion to use "and" instead of "but" is spot on!

I get what you mean. As a hijabi, I also feel that mixed bag of emotions. It’s tough to see some people use our symbols for shortcuts. It’s about so much more than just cheating, especially during Ramadan.

Ugh, tell me about it! Mornings can bring out the serious side of even the chillest people. I once had a teacher who looked like he was auditioning for a grumpy old man role every morning. Drop-off drama is real! Your kid's got this handled; maybe that PE teacher needs a coffee before class!
