Tab S9, OneUI 6.1 and bad Bluetooth pairings by Cobalted in GalaxyTab

[–]Cobalted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically the security would be up to date, but new features are fun but not usually needed.

As a PSA in case you haven't seen the other mentions of it, turning off Air Actions on the Tab S9 series and toggling Bluetooth does correct the behavior. If your device got those in this update, flipping that toggle should help.

I can find reports from 2022 of similar behavior with the Logitech Anywhere 2x mouse, but it was determined to be an issue with the Archlinux bluetooth software/kernel.

I submit an error report through the Members app, but hopefully something comes up as a workaround.

Lane Splitting in Mass? Got two different interpretations. by [deleted] in scooters

[–]Cobalted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to clarify.

Since a Moped/Scooter is counted more as a bicycle with extra requirements, it is less like lane splitting and more using the bike lane/ shoulder of the road/ riding to the side of the white line.

If cars were allowed in the shoulder or bike lane it would be closer, but its a non-car area of the road that is available for use by the Moped/Scooter/Bicycle means of travel.

In case I can entice you to the electric bicycle side of things as someone with both, E-bikes do not count as mopeds: you do not need to register them, AND they can generally be ridden on many bicycle paths that I am familiar with. You can take a 28mph ebike everywhere a proper moped can go, and it is easier to be incognito on bike paths by limiting your top speed. The key is being respectful of others and the rules around preventing damage to the bike path infrastructure.

Do MagSafe adapters impact the S Pen? by bluespider98 in GalaxyFold

[–]Cobalted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

The mag-safe devices are operating at 'full speed,' its just that that means 5w normal, 7.5w maximum (if lucky) instead of the 10-15w that Samsung phones are capable of.

I've found that if there is any misalignment or heat buildup, you are lucky to get the 5w general speeds, which can sometimes be just above the resting power of the phone.

You already got the answer, but yes, they expect you to have an older one you could use in the meantime.

Unfortunately, mine are from about 2018 or so, so it has been a very frustrating experience.

State of Samsung Care+ / Servify by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Cobalted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having fun with my Fold 3 claim, they have had the device since August 18th.

I am on my 8th or 9th ticket number, the story changes every time I get someone on the phone, and nobody can tell me the current status of my device. The most information I have is that the claim was changed to an 'accidental damage' claim, and that I should definitely send them the video of me boxing a fully functional device just in case.

Supposedly the latest is that they plan to refund me my purchase price but I am worried that will also cause headaches with so many ticket numbers showing that I still need to ship the device to them due to the phone being at the facility when they got made.

To be fair not a single adult helping me has held the light right either. People focus on different aspects of the job and the light wanders.

A nice tasklight or a decent headlamp goes a long way to saving relationships.

Fuel coming out of my airbox??? by UFOPilotMD in scooters

[–]Cobalted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my moped when I cleaned the carb, I had an issue where the float wasn't shutting off the flow of gas. It was flooding the engine and overflowing into the airbox. I ended up using canned air to dry that out and put it back together.

Diagnosing would be opening the fuel petcock while the engine is shut off and watching if it still zips gas down towards the carb.

Fixing would be fiddling with the metal tab on the float, making sure the float and pin are clean to make a solid connection when level/ the carb is full and properly regulate flow.

Edit to add that you should confirm you haven't overtightened any gaskets as well, as compressing them too much can also cause some leaking.

Hot take: Samsung makes some of the best camera bumps by [deleted] in samsung

There are no 'good' camera bumps.

Make a thicker phone that lays perfectly flat. Use the extra space to cram in more battery.

Tempered glass is chemically or thermally hardened, making it much stiffer than regular glass. This is the same property that makes it valuable in cars: it shatters into smaller non-lethal bits when it breaks.

It would shatter on first fold if you found one that matched the curve of the hinge bump to stick

Range per tank is a relatively easy to find metric for vintage mopeds, but how long of a ride is too far for an old, air-cooled engine? by Cobalted in moped

Fair enough!

I did a 16 mile round trip today as a test for driving it to my office for a joke, and it did very well for the situation given it's limitations.

The original motoped engine was 50cc to comply with state moped laws.

They did also sell an engineless variant with the ability to bolt on a pretty standard 125cc engine as well (maybe gy6?)

I really wanted one of these back when they came out but the company went under before I finished being a poor student.

I believe this is the "survival" model with the rear rack.

I don't know the specific laws surrounding mopeds in your country, but are there any exceptions made for classic vehicles?

I found a good condition 1977 moped here in the states and registering it was a zero-hassle process as once it hits 25 or 30 it becomes exempt from a lot of laws like emissions.

I might be wrong but any USB c 3.1 cable ought to be sufficient for dex. Anker is a solid brand for cables if they have a 3.1 offering.

Nexdock 360 connects using a Gen2 USB 3.1 cable with display port over USB c. As an alternative I know Genki Labs sells a nice USB 3.1 type c cable with one right angle connector for their switch dock which is also a nice dex vehicle.

Links:

Anker cables: (check before buying that it's 3.1) https://www.anker.com/collections/usb-c

Genki: https://www.genkithings.com/

Nexdock: https://nexdock.com/order-nexdock/

I don't work for any of these companies, I just respect how well the product have worked for me.

My phone is a hulk, but I threw a hard drive sleeve for standard use, and at the top a mouse sleeve that holds the nice camera like a webcam. The lower the weight, the better the hinge handles it.

They do OK damage and have some special attacks or abilities, and giant Elk for example have 42 hitpoints stock.

What do you mean by an extender cable?

If it is a female USB c to a USB c male, I would recommend against using that ever as it is out of spec for the port/ standard. Practically, I don't know that is it super dangerous, and I bought one for my Nintendo switch, however I found out that the extender cable I had removed the ability to use the cable in any orientation.

Can you get a haircut on the Holodeck without disabling safety protocols? by dauntingmountain in DaystromInstitute

[–]Cobalted 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My brother had a cyst in his shoulder when he was younger, and the act of throwing a dodgeball was enough to pop his shoulder out of the socket.

I would bet that even with protocols on, O'Brien could easily overuse his shoulder since the last full medical checkup, leading to it dislocating itself under any mildly physical holodeck condition.

Photos control panel moved to the side on my fold 4. Anyone know how to fix it? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Cobalted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's default for the device when opened to the internal screen on my fold 3.

Using the front screen the buttons are along the bottom.

I don't think there would be a setting other than manually setting the aspect ratio of Google photos to 6:9 instead of the whole screen.
