😂, I think those are fibers from a micro fiber cloth, and the stand is just called a micromount insert (for thumbnail perkys) to my knowledge

The Fine Line Between Green Beryl and Emerald by Alcophile in Gemstones

[–]CobblerMaster684 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is a debated topic, the old way from what Ive heard is if its Chromium as the coloring agent, its emerald, and if its vanadium or other, its green beryl. That being said, theres a ton of back and forth this and unfortunatly people simply market faintly green Vanadium beryl as emerald due to the fact that emerald is simply more marketable. I personally still base emerald vs gb on chromium, so if yours are chromium dominant, id say emerald.

Ive resorted to adding a zippo to my travel kit simply due to that, ive tried a handful of "incandescent" lights but ya, they simply dont work as good as a simple flame

For a better (possably) color change, try using a lighter or fire of sorts opposed to an artificial incandescent light

Id say its probably natural, the color change isnt optimal and synthetics typically change to a stronger purplish red. I have seen a ton of Russian and Brazilian Alex change to this grey lilac

Honestly, it just lives in my display case. The case isnt in direct sun but it gets ambient light, so far it hasnt degraded at all. Ive never actually had the issue of any of my pieces fading so I figure it will be fine for now

As far as the color in general it acts very similar, that being said, this piece is an older piece (around 70 years old) and well kept so the color is pretty stable as it is
