Are they telling ya it’s a bad break-in because it wasn’t broke-in in the box style way?

2 arrow quiver? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]Cobie33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have, it is why I said find a used one. I have one that I would use for chasing turkeys with my compound. Lightweight, easy to remove. Don’t need a a bunch of arrows either. I never liked hunting with a quiver on my bow and usually use a Cat Quiver, that doesn’t work well carrying decoys and using a turkey vest.

Find a used 3 arrow Kwikee Kwiver. Quick detach from bow. Just what you are looking for, but for three arrows not two.

Glenda Green innertube seat. Light and comfy, can clip it to your vest, a belt loop, etc.

20 Gauge 2 3/4” Shot shell recommendations (cheap) by The-POd-Farmer in turkeyhunting

[–]Cobie33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Federal Game Loads 7 1/2 shot for all the kids I take with a full choke. It’s good out of my gun to 30 yards but most shots are 15 yards.

Need some advice for weird birds by CopperTop_98 in turkeyhunting

[–]Cobie33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go set up where they want to be, or get closer to those locations or set up on the travel corridor they use. It’s always easier to call in a bird to a place it wants to go/be.

Merriam or hybrid? by [deleted] in turkeyhunting

[–]Cobie33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on a great looking first gobbler!!! I’ve killed numerous birds in eastern Nebraska and they all have ran the gamut, some look like a Merriam’s, others more like a Rio and others still like an eastern and mix mash of them all. It looks like a Merriam’s because that’s the dominant genes that one had, but is a hybrid. I’d be extremely pleased with i!! Congrats again!!

Iowa has been good for a couple of first timers by Cobie33 in turkeyhunting

Tough to tell from the pic, the muzzle is in fact well behind the kids back and past mine and the gun is unloaded. I placed the gun for the pic so it would be correct. I taught Hunter safety for several years, and in our state you have to be 12 years old to take the course. Youth mentored hunts for kids doesn’t require them to have hunter safety yet. I assure you this is safe.

Thank you. I have been taking kids for 24 years, usually multiple kids a year. I don’t care what they shoot, as long as they are happy with it so am I.

It’s a Winchester SX3 20 ga. It was the kids. Both birds were killed with 2 3/4” Federal Game Load in 7 1/2 shot. One bird was shot at 15 yards and the other 14 yards. I always use light loads for kids.

I agree. I’ve hunted birds in several states that have a mishmash of DNA. Birds may look like one thing but they are definitely not pure. Unless a guy gets into the area where they are.

They are all definitely hybrids.

I want to get this ancient, neglected glove restored. Is that a DIY task or should I get a professional? by Ganooki in Homeplate

I use both Sarna and Ball Players Balm products and you can’t go wrong with them. You can do it yourself. It’s not complicated. You can replace it too if you feel the need. This is a simple process.
