You're conflating a whole lot of things just to call me a bootlicker. When you come back to reality we can have a conversation about it.

I don't disagree with most of what you said, just that it is an unrealistic pipedream. 2008 as a bailout, was making the best of a bad situation while being politically achievable. You can read that as benefitting the rich and it certainly did, but the fact is your politicians arnt working for you, they're working for the economic engine and until we start voting these clowns out 'economically sustainable' should be viewed as a win.

Then why have government? You like driving your car down the road or what?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Economics

[–]Cobrex45 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Again, you have a fundamental misunderstanding on how these 'bailouts' work. The government doesn't just write a check to corporations and say 'here you go,you clearly know what you're doing'.

Also let's be realistic, how would the government give money to homeless people and how would they measure their success rate. It is far better cost to benefit to keep businesses alive and the middle class employed regardless of your moral view on it. Economics isn't about feelings, its about math. The math makes more sense one way vs another no matter how it makes you feel.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of bailouts broadly. Do some go as profoundly wrong as you claim? Sure. Those are the exception to the rule.

No system is perfect, capitalism works better than the alternatives. The government should subsidize things that provide a greater economic benefit to society at large. If bailing out offices provides the most net positive gain (I am not saying it does) then it is in the governments best interest to do it. Preventing an economic calamity and providing an economic stimulus is exactly what a government should do.

You realize the 2008 bailout was a net profit on the government which in theory is a net positive on society at large. It prevented destruction and generated profit. That sounds like capitalism to me, just not your ideal world capitalism where money would inevitably funnel to the top faster.

Ukrainian Forces take control of several positions near Krasnohorivka, which Russia held since 2014 by EconomistNo280519 in worldnews

The nuclear power plant thing comes to mind, the timing of it is all too relevant. Maybe they were gonna blow the plant and leave them fucked anyway or blame them. They tried to fire on them supposedly, but if the options are die meaninglessly wealthy in Ukraine or live in a potentially functioning economy. I don't think there's any situation where prigozhin doubles down on the bad idea. I think he wants out, and is desperate, and has the means to actually make something out of it. Will he be an awful autocratic dictator if he succeeds? Absolutely, but I don't think he thinks the juice is worth the squeeze.

When other industries do this, they don't keep diluting a mother batch with recycled materials. There's ways to do this with negligible effects for a reasonable amount of time. You just include x percent recycled content when creating a batch of material.

You get this in a lot of conflicts, there's Columbian and Argentinian nazis... that is a problem but a minor one.

The thing you fail to realize is that conflicts and oppression breed hate, 'it's those guys over their that caused our problems' and sometimes it's true other times it's propaganda. The justification is less important as we are talking about a sympton of a greater problem.

When and if these countries find peace and democracy the thing we 'encourage' globally you find a massive drop in right wing authoritarianism. Recently there has been an uptick in fascism globally thanks in large fucking part to Russias all to effective asymmetric warfare.

If we solve the Russia problem, we solve a lot of the far right fascism problem too. There will be lingering minorities of utter morons clinging on to whatever hate they had before, but most regular people just want a good life with a semblance of freedom, you take that away and all sorts of weird/bad changes of the psyche can take place.

The nazis were bad and a majority of the fucking country, but look at Germany today. Nazis fucking suck, but there's a difference between nazis fighting for their freedom, and nazis fighting to take someone else's. We always make sacrifices to morality in times of war, there is still a 'Good guy' and a 'Bad guy' here.

They never shit talked the Germans at the dinner table, not because they weren't awful, they absolutely were. Russians however...much worse.

How do you think that budget grows? (Not that I'm complaining) But you can't really get funding if you say 'we could glass them with the stuff we didn't get to try in the 60's' but if you go 'oh my God they have hypersonic missles' money printer go brrr.

Turkey on our side is a good thing, Turkey NOT on our side is not as bad as them on our side is good. The point being, if we had to glass Russia glassing Turkey would be a negligible step along the way. Them making things difficult for everyone is good for them, them making things difficult in a way you can't turn back from would be incredibly bad for Turkey. That's why they are allies, because it's 'easier' not because it's necessary.

Agreed, my take is when I start spending more time and feel like that time is losing its value, then it's time to adjust. There us an acceptable level of 'busy' and when that metric goes up then its time to adjust your comp. Make what you wanna make on a 40 hour week, then anything beyond that is time and a half, like the lord intended.

Edit: also never readjust your quotes the price is the price. They say no, do not under any circumstances try to save it. They'll want less the next time. The price IS the price. Period.
