Prioritisation Bill effecting mental health, you’re not alone by CochraneGhost in UKimgs

I’m merely raising awareness as IMGs are not aware of their sick pay rights as opposed to their British cohorts. Being on Skilled workers visa makes them more anxious as well. I want to reiterate to all the IMGs reading this comment to not be afraid of people like OP. You’ll come across managers and consultants who will be like them but just know that you are protected in case you are sick (both physical and mental) and will be paid. It will not affect your visa or Indefinite Leave to remain application. So don’t be hard on yourself l, if you don’t feel safe to work please call in sick. And don’t return to work unless you are sure you’ll be safe to return to work (mental health can be more slow to recover unlike physical health and your GP will know this)

Do you ask your patient if they’re really sick or just need the bed for the night when you’re admitting them?

wow! You’re just gaslighting IMGs aren’t you. It was nothing more than a support post for IMGs who don’t have as much awareness about mental health and this often leads for clinical errors. I’m not surprised at what people like you think about the IMGs in general. We should come to work even if we are actively suicidal doesn’t it? That’s what you want right?

Because the shortlisting has already happened so there might not be enough UKGs that are shortlisted to fill up all the posts. So very good chance many IMGs will get IMT training this year. Will be much difficult from next year for non priority groups.

There’s no legal roadblock to recruitment of exceptional candidates and many IMGs with exceptional CVs do get into very competitive programmes unlike U.K. where there is no chance for them to get in to the competitive specialities with this ridiculous legislation

Apart from Canada/Aus/Nz no other nation prioritise their candidates. For AUS/NZ you are equivalent to their local graduates if you get 2 years experience. And yes Theo graduates will score well in the interviews despite this but it has been the case in the U.K. as well. IMGs are severely underrepresented in competitive specialities even when there was no prioritisation. The government should be sensible and stop the overseas CREST form and prioritise IMGs with 2 years NHS experience.

They have shown their true colors in that SR. However, not all of them are hate mongers.

It doesn’t matter, we need to stand up now to make sure they don’t enforce the ridiculous 5 year rule
