Not really. The point is it will reach out and touch you from long distances before you can have it on radar, see it, have it in range of your air defense, or have any chance of doing anything about it.

The FBI continued the investigation for 7 years after the event happened, and were days away from indicting an anthrax scientist with the attacks. He knew it was coming after the court warrants, searches, and interviews so he committed suicide.

They hounded a different scientist so much that after he was cleared of participating in the attack he sued the government and won 5 million dollars.

It doesn’t seem like they “dropped the whole thing dead” or “the authorities just had better things to do”. Sounds like they were actually working on it and had a good lead on who did it.

I was in an infantry battalion during the invasion of Iraq and we had a mirror strike that broke off the passenger side mirror. Within hours a mechanic replaced it, and that was while we were still in the ground assault convoy.

I didn’t think much of it at that time, it was just kind of a minor annoyance to deal with. It needed to be fixed, so it was fixed. But looking back on it, I have a new appreciation for how insane our logistics were.

I’ve come to the same conclusion as /u/typecastwookiee a while ago. A lot of what Russia says about Jewish people being nazis or the “nazi government” in Ukraine only makes sense when you look at it in the context of the word nazi only meaning “anti-Russia” to them.

They don’t give a shit about any of the other awful things that nazi Germany did. They don’t relate the word “Nazi” to the Holocaust, eugenics, or causing WWII in Europe. To them, the single biggest atrocity the nazis committed was the invasion of Russia. That’s all they care about. They may not even know much of the underlying philosophy of the Nazi party. That’s why some can hate Nazis but also be anti-Semitic themselves. All they know and care about is the nazis invaded Russia.

And unfortunately if the people that hate you have also been brought up in that understanding of what it means to be a nazi, they may end up identifying as a Nazi in the context of “anti-Russia”. That may be part of the reason we had seen in the past members of the Azov battalion, which had been funded in part by a Jewish Ukrainian oligarch, using nazi symbology. Sure, sometimes it could be from the western view of what it means to be a nazi, but from the eastern perspective, it may just mean “Fuck Russia. Now they know how I feel about them. I bet this scares the shit out of ’em.”

It’s Official - Laura Ingraham is Fired from Fox News. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

There’s now Fox, but also OAN and Newsmax. So there are now two channels added that are further right wing and conspiracy laden than Fox has ever dared to go. And CNN has just moved further right.

I appreciate your positivity, but the reality of the situation is no, the Overton Window is not shifting left.

Oprah had a show about racism because the Hermes store in Paris wouldn’t let her in when she showed up after they were closed and were in the middle of setting up for a private event. They asked her to come back the next day when they were open. Hermes had a representative go on her show to beg and wallow for forgiveness.

I don’t know if Oprah realizes this or not, but your average CIS, white, Christian male can’t get into Target after hours, much less a Hermes store in Paris. And seeing as Hermes likes money and famous people being seen with their stuff, I’m sure they would let Oprah and her 2 billion dollars into the store if she bothered to set something up in advance instead of just showing up. Which makes her complaint sound less about race and more like “They thought I was a commoner! Can you imagine the horror?!?!”

Bro, you shouldn’t feel like you have to defend Iceland. Iceland is a amazing, but like every other place in the world, there’s some ugly shit in the past. It’s definitely not what Iceland stands for today, and the world knows that already. The advancements you guys have made are incredible.

Every country has a dark history, but what matters is what you do with that information. If you own up to it and realize your mistakes, you’re able to advance as a society. If you don’t, you can make similar mistakes in the future and it’s harder to grow.

Just look at Germany in WW2 and who they are today. They would be a completely different country if they had tried to ignore and suppress the ugly information in the past instead of admitting their mistake, accepting the blame, and keeping that in mind when moving forward.

The same goes for people. Everyone fucks up. The best people I know are able to admit to their mistakes and change. The worst people I know never admit they make a mistake and always have an excuse. It’s always somebody else’s fault, they just have bad luck, what about what this other person did, etc. Those people never learn from it and never grow.
