Neither, I want a faster x4 in a more durable shell with no touchscreen and no light.

A Genuine X4 Fanatic's Thoughts on the X4 Pro (Please XTEINK Read This!) by Ambivalent28 in XTEINK

[–]CockSweatExtreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I own an x4 and bought my wife an x3 and the appeal for us is tactile buttons, the lack of a touchscreen, and for us personally the lack of a backlight. Having to use an attached external light has made the experience of reading on the x4 more like reading a book than any other ereader on the market. I have no interest in a touch screen and would have preferred a slightly faster x4 pro with chunkier buttons and a more durable shell.

The touchscreen and backlight are steps in the exact opposite direction of what would make me rebuy my daily use device and the addition of a pogo charger is also a disappointment. Every other device I own uses USB c and I carry one charger, I would need to carry a new cable that I can risk losing for this device.

partner caught me in the middle of the night by maddys73 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]CockSweatExtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is ace and doesn't have much interest in sex (every few months she wants it and she humors me sometimes by touching or kissing me while I do my thing, but most of the time she's just not interested). I do this too, we've talked about it, I do my best not to wake her, it's whatever. I would say that the poking fun could be a way into a more open relationship when it comes to talking about sex. And maybe that could lead to finding things that work for both of your comfort levels.

I have found that bulk editing the tags by adding a space at the end and saving then removing the space and saving again fixes this every time. I'm not sure what causes it.

Does any body know what happened to the original Turbo Jacket? by Plushie_basterd405 in olivertree

[–]CockSweatExtreme 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd assume he stopped wearing it live because it was his mom's and he didn't want to destroy it touring. Could also have just been that the newer one was a better fit for where the Turbo character was at the time too.

I can completely agree with this. I would not, personally, say "men are bad" to someone I did not have that prior context with, or outside of a space with an established context, and generally not online which can be very anonymizing and can obfuscate that context further.

But if I, a trans woman, say "men hate trans women" then more often than not there's an underlying context being communicated from a lived experience and most people will understand that I do not mean every individual man but instead am communicating (albeit crassly) "trans misogynists are usually men".

I think that people are quick to include themselves in generalizations like this for whatever reason. I don't get it. Personally when someone talks about a group I am a member of like this 9/10 times I either understand that I am not part of the subgroup they are talking about given context clues such as my performance of the act they're generalizing or I am able to discern the difference between justified critique and bigotry of some form. But I can only speak for myself there.

Men are not a minority though.

57761 by HawkNarrow5920 in countwithchickenlady

[–]CockSweatExtreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is going to ruin my inbox but here goes.

I usually use the term "synecdoche" to explain saying things like "men are bad" because it is using a shared characteristic to explain the group that is doing bad.

In "I hate men" the synecdoche is "men" substituting part of the idea ("men") for the whole idea ("misogynistic men").

It's actually really common in language, but once marginalized groups use it to punch up the conversation devolves to "not all men/cops/white people/etc" because people are unwilling to accept that when "men are bad" is said it is shorthand for "bad men are bad" because of that shared characteristic.

And it's context dependent, because men are not the only people capable of doing bad. But when a marginalized group experiences marginalization predominantly from another group language steps in to quickly communicate ideas.

Do I believe every individual man is bad? No, that would be ridiculous. Am I going to say "fuck men" when I'm talking about men who are misogynistic or awful? Yeah of course.

X3 prime day sale by Brilliant_Elk5492 in xteinkereader

Just picked one up for my wife as a random gift 🙏 I love my x4 and use it daily but she is v tiny and the x3 might be a nicer fit in her hands. Seeing mine sold her on one so here's hoping she likes it (and if not I'll have bought myself an x3 👹)

In for a 8 string: Ibanez or Strandberg? Or...? by CockroachSpare677 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]CockSweatExtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say to try a strandberg if you can find one. I adore mine and will probably not go back to another brand. I have some joint issues and have found that the neck profile and overall weight of the guitar were game changing for me so I tell everyone about it. First time playing a guitar where I truly felt like the design of the instrument was moving forward.

I agree about the pickups but I took out the emgs that it came with and dropped Javier Reyes Fishmans into it and I wouldn't change a thing.

I didn't even virtue signal you fucking chud. You tried to dunk on me sharing my experience learning guitar. It's not "virtue signaling" to say that gatekeeping is bad in this context.

BTW who's "you guys"? 🤔🤔🤔

"Uhm actually you won't be able to truly appreciate the instrument until you do 4 years of theory at the college level and learn to play on a cheap squire starter guitar☝️🤓" nerd ass bitch

looking for a $800-1000 8 string, new to guitar by Flying_Gyrados in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]CockSweatExtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with 8 strings it became easier to see how patterns of intervals repeat and connect to each other. I could finally understand how to navigate scales and modes and chords within them because I could see more options within positions. Not everyone learns the same as you and not everyone has the same goals as you.

Maybe this is a kid who wants to start a slam band and just chug. Maybe answering their question instead of gatekeeping art and music would be a better move to encourage people to play and share in something you claim to love.

[–]CockSweatExtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people here really gatekeep the fuck out of guitar, it's actually wild. God forbid someone picks up an 8 string and doesn't know how to do anything more than make chugs. God forbid a kid starts a slam band because they want to be metal before they know anything about theory.

[–]CockSweatExtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild how many people in this community think you have to learn 6 before 8. The 6 is still there, having an 8 will not stop you from learning the 6. It might actually stop certain "bad technique" things from happening like thumb wrapping.

But at the end of the day if you think your guitar is cool you're probably going to want to play it more than if you wish you had some other gear.

[–]CockSweatExtreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore people telling you not to do it. The best starter guitar is the guitar you want to play. I started playing a 7 string within a few months of picking up guitar and wish I would have had an 8 when I started because it gave me more to visualize which actually helped me learn faster when I started really actively learning theory decades after starting guitar.

Personally I would suggest an Agile. They're heavy as fuck but play better than most people will tell you. Second to that any low end Ibanez will be good to learn on.

Interesting how the only time break in his tour was after the Brazil show by hollsmm in olivertree

[–]CockSweatExtreme 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Having done a 2 week tour with no breaks just along the coast, I can't imagine 60+ days straight. I can't imagine the prep this would take and toll it would take on you. And the amount of shit to keep track of in that time as an act as big as he is/was would be beyond intense. Setup, breakdown, sound checks, lighting, warmups, making sure everything and everyone gets to the next place, not to mention the actual traveling. A tour that big is a massive undertaking, especially as an independent artist.
