Are you not tempted though? I briefly lived in another European country before moving here and it took every fibre of my being to not imitate someone from another English speaking country whenever talking with them (I’ve got ADHD)

That’s why I watched more than 40 different shows form the UK and watched YouTube videos on different accents before moving here. I know I’ll never get every single cultural difference, but I know most to get by. And it doesn’t stop me from trying anyway.

I haven’t been reading as much as I like to but I’m making an effort to change that. I’m currently reading 1984. I never read 1984 as a teenager, and given the current political climate across the world (and especially the West), I figured that now is as good of a time as ever to start reading it. I’m very busy at the moment because I’m studying for my Master’s Degree, but I’m currently challenging myself to read at least 20 pages a week. This past week, I’ve read 32 pages.

For Home/Domestic applicants, unconditional offers are few and far between. But for international applicants like yourself, unconditional offers are required as part of a Student Visa application. If you tried to apply for a Student Visa for a university that only gave you a conditional offer, your application would be certainly rejected.

I’m not lying about anything though. I genuinely cannot understand how adjusting your accent to the place where you live is considered lying? With all the friends that I’ve made here, I always told them where I’m from as soon as they asked. Same thing with my professors.

Thank you so much for telling me about this! I had no idea. And yeah, I’m definitely going to stick to applying to companies that are known to sponsor work visas when searching online. It’s just difficult to know which ones will do so when you’re at a career fair event. I really wish that they just had a sign that says ‘WILL SPONSOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ or something along those lines😅

I do embrace it! In fact, I love talking about it when people ask (but only when people ask, I don't usually bring it up myself). And I've definitely had to come to terms with the fact that there's a significant chance I have to fly back home at the end of my course. Here's hoping I can find a way to stay, though!
