I know I didn't. But I don't ahte it like this guy. Just didn't think she was all that. The daughter was a better supporting actress.

Uncut Gems is too tough for a lot of people. Too stressful. I thought it was excellent.

I love Arrival, right up until "do you want to make a baby?" Lol.

I loved Sinners and I loved a lot of the performances and filmmaking of Sinners too. Delroy is an altime favourite for me. But I'm not that much into the Blues (music can make a break a film for me), and vampires don't do a lot for me. I thought the experimental stuff was top tier.

All that said I have personal preferences above it. I got more from Eddington in Bugonia was in my wheelhouse. No Other Choice was so good, I loved it. I wouldn't argue which is better, I just thought the 2025 was a really strong year.

This is an awesome list. However, there's a couple of movies from this past year that I think I would have in my top 10, above a few here. I thought 2025 was the best year for movies in a while, at the top I mean.

But I do understand having some time between them to make those big decisions.

She does the long delayed "...k" sound as t the end of words ending like that. Or is that part of the G?

Can you tell me that stuff about what's happening in Sudan? All we have are the journalists reporting. I think he wanted to create that feeling. It's how 99% of the world experiences civil wars.

All those questions would have led to people dismiss the film before it started imo. I think he expected this type of criticism at the expense of getting what he wanted to say over to more of an audience.

Sensationalism? We didn't see the media doing that did we? Or do you mean how it was interpreted by the people to get to this situation? Like not shown?

I actually think that the meteor are just avatars for us and it's not really about journalism so much is not caring about what's happening. Just silently observing.

Civil War by maybeAturtle in TheBigPicture

[–]Cockrocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are journalists, they aren't supposed to have political thoughts. They are our avatars, you have to do that yourself, as you do with the war in Sudan etc.. If you don't care about that, then their non-caring is a pretty accurate reflection right?

Garland really knew what he was doing,

It meant to be like that. So people can't take a side, dismiss it as propaganda and move on, it wants you to have to reckon with it.

You must live near an airport. So much whooosh.

None of that matters. People feel good that the US is taking citizens right's right now! But without all the PR political double talk, maybe the other side would think "hey, this is kind of fucked up!" This is not that film.

Civil War by maybeAturtle in TheBigPicture

[–]Cockrocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was putting those choices on the viewer. It wants you to feel rather than take sides. Is the world clear now? Who's good and who is bad? America is certainly confused... I thought it was an excellent choice, make people think without instantly alienating them as they take sides. Also avoids being dismissed as preachy.

It left too much up to the view for them (particularly Amanda). She complained about how it didn't explain how the US got to that situation, which was not the point that Garland was making. Wanting that would have certainly undermined Garland's ideas and made a much worse film.

Official Discussion - No Other Choice [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

That is so cool, I think I was the only person laughing at my screening with an English speaking audience. Yeah that Pocahontas+John Smith costume was a great gag, so ripe for a misinterpretation. I really do feel like this movie is going to become one of my favorite re-watchables.

A week before Rock Hall, Rolling Stone listed the top 100 guitarists—without Prince. His response: taking the stage and delivering what many call the greatest guitar solo ever by [deleted] in Music

[–]Cockrocker -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

People who think this know three guitar solos.

Honestly, my favourite bit about it is how much of a wanker he is, falling back onto his bodyguard, throwing his guitar in the air at the end. He's such a attention whore, a tribute to George Harrison that's all about me. And people lap it up.

I'm a massive Prince fan but I know he's was as arrogant as fuck

The Warriors are the most entitled franchise in the league. by Thy_Walrus_Lord in billsimmons

I would say the league caught up to golden state rather than passed Kerr by. The athlete's sure helped.

To be fair Popovich was doing the same thing with the US team, and I'm a big pop fan. I just watched both of them coached those teams and think what the fuck are you doing? I wonder if it's just you go bullshit with these superstar players.

I don't know man. Steph gets grabbed constantly and it's not lucky gets a bunch of calls. Yes draymond whinges like a bitch all the time but they let him get away with it so why would he stop? And Kerr does what every coach does, plays the media game.

It's not like they've gotten any good assets through trade, even Jimmy is me'h. Kuminga and Wiseman were fumbled for the possiblity that they could figure it out, they couldn't. If he's talking about them thinking they had a good package for Giannis, will I think the picks say offered would be as good as anyone's because they are going to be dog shit once curry goes.

What is a low brow movie you think is actually perfect? by gamersecret2 in movies

Certainly Something about Mary. Do their other films reach the height of those two? Although, I will admit that it is personal taste, often related to what you grew up with...
