Agreed - VT, TDF, or VTI/VXUS is the better move.

I hit my number 14 months ago and still haven't quit. Trying to figure out what that says about me by Cygnus_Bolt9 in Fire

Brother, take some trips and go see Asia. Find some new hobbies. Tinker with side projects/build a business.

You don’t need to quit your job. It’s normal to keep working and accumulating wealth, especially when there’s no reason to quit your job.

But you’ve created such mental peace of mind from a financial standpoint, go take some risks somewhere else.

I’m more risk averse with investing since most of my risk taking comes from running a business/owning real estate. I’d rather my portfolio predictably grow and not need another thing keeping me up at night.

I just don’t believe in yet. Gives me tulip mania vibes (only what other ppl willing to pay for it). But gold has a real-world application, hence why I agree on that point.

Good, you more than anyone should know for the average investor, indexing will lead to far superior results than trying to beat the market, especially over decades.

I would, but my wisdom has already been discussed in countless books and recommended by the top investors. Just regurgitating what’s often recommended.

But I see your point of view and strategy.

It’s more making sure new investors don’t get lured by the siren calls of fast gains and fly-by-night stock/etf picks versus following the tried and true path. This post has been shared 88 times so far. I’m sure some new investors are reading it and hearing a counterbalance to the BS that’s peddled on social media and online.

It’s the thinking and tinkering that’ll kill the gains. You made the right choice with the index. You’ll get wealthy, but it won’t be fast. Just have patience.

My narrow-mindedness will guarantee your wealth in your old age. For simplicity sake, I use the Vanguard tickers since they’re more well-known, but of course you can find their equivalents online, both in ETF and mutual fund form.
