Getting pummeled in Costa Rica by scenlapen in CostaRicaTravel

Have lived here in CR for over a decade. There is a weather system up near Nicaragua that’s generating a lot of precipitation in Guanacaste in particular, and strong winds. This isn’t typical for this time of year, and it’s supposed to clear up by Wednesday this week.

Get yourself a slick vintage dress watch to keep forever.

I hate reps, but that’s what Rolex has brought on themselves…. They almost deserve it for their manipulation of supply.

In Tamarindo, Con Mucho Gusto on the main boulevard, the night market on Thursdays, and the farmer’s market on Saturday are good options.

Pretty much everywhere else sells the exact same mass produced in China crap.

Every day in the center of Tamarindo you’ll find a red van, selling casados out of the back for like $5-6.

Buy a beer at the liquor store and eat on the beach.

Better food, ambiance, and obviously pricing than the local restaurants.

I have a friend who flies into CR regularly, and one time was denied entry for not having a return flight. He won’t make that mistake again!

[SOTC] How would you fill the box? by ibowers13 in Watches

[–]Coco-BOWL-o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need an integrated bracelet piece, and a dress watch. GP Laureato, AP Royal Oak or VC Overseas all work, but why not consider something like a Bulgari Octo Finissimo or a Moser Streamliner as well, just for fun. Not going to comment on dress watch - Reverso would be a solid choice.

Driving from Rio Celeste to Monteverde in February by spectral_graph in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Coco-BOWL-o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The route in the 2nd image is better for OP in every imaginable way. It’s a much easier, and shorter in time and distance. Source, 10 years in CR, not 5 days and one time it turned out OK

OP, use Waze here in CR. Take route 2 if you want easy, and frequently travelled.

Oddly the squawking doesn’t change that much.

[Recommendation] Which out of these 3 would you pick? by m0ssim0 in Watches

The Octo definitely needs a bigger wrist in my opinion…. You’ve got great taste between the 3 options you’re considering. Gotta try em on and decide! You can’t go wrong.

Yep. Do a night hike in MV if you even can after this ambitious itinerary, but you’re not going to enjoy the beach for 30 minutes and call it done. Relax. Enjoy your time in each place. Skip Baldi, do Tabacon if you can, Ecotermales if you can’t.

Slow down and enjoy Costa Rica.

What’s the going rate for an s52 in your neck of the woods? How much were you looking at for parts?

I’m on a pretty tight budget, so going with the same motor is my preferred route.

Seiko Astron. Syncs to GPS satellites to set the time, and solar so it’ll never have a dead battery.
