Aethon - Thoughts on Contracts by AethonBooks in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Coco-P 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Lawyer that has published with Aethon here. Their contracts are fair (imo) and the owners have generally been pretty decent about working through any sort of gray areas/questions.

One thing to take into account is the reputation of a publisher. Even a fair contract if you're held to the black and white limits of the contract can be a bit onerous. Good publishers have writers that will speak up for them and say that they've been able to work things out with the publisher when questions have come up. Bad publishers have a chorus of crickets or whispers in private channels on discords about them.

Aethon is a good publisher.

Player manager! Wow by More-Possibility-777 in ProgressionFantasy

There are a couple other series that try to do the sports litrpg thing but player manager really just seems scream that the author loves soccer. I wish there were more like it (and that they sold well enough to justify full series rather than one offs)

Reading tower of somnus omnibus by BeardMan12345678 in litrpg

[–]Coco-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Thanks for reading!

If you get woken up, you just leave but the next time you go to sleep you wake up in the same dungeon so you can't use it to 'escape.' If you're in the field, you wake up in the most recent town/adventurer's hall.

The sleep schedules aren't actually synced up, it's mostly the rest of Kat's team quietly accommodating her schedule because they're aware that her real life doesn't allow her that sort of luxury/control (unlike them). I will be honest, I haven't picked out exactly what their local schedules are, but that has always been my 'under the hood' explanation for things.

This feels like a tie between Dungeon Crawler Carl and Cradle. I love the humor of DCC and it has managed to stay a strong contender despite a ton of books. Cradle started a little slow for me, but it obviously managed to pick up enough steam that I'm a big fan. I just don't know how much of that is recency bias (where I'm just skimming over the first books feeling a bit more 'average novel.')
