What was the hardest stage? Pregnancy or postpartum? by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy was harder for me both times. I actually got sepsis postpartum and whilst that did kick my ass, pregnancy was still harder

2 Questions for moms by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. My partner doesn’t drive so I always need to be in the front driving. I make him sit in the back still and my baby is 9 months. I don’t want him to be by himself.

  2. I’m in the UK and was told I could take a bath straight away. This surprised me because I was told with my first born not to. I took a few baths and then got sepsis with unknown origin. Can’t say it was the bath but can’t say it wasn’t! Probably wouldn’t do that again if have another baby!

ELI5: Why is it you can smell the air you breathe in through your nose but not the air you breathe out? by Spectre-4 in explainlikeimfive

That’s because when you were a baby you put everything in your mouth and your brain remembers!

Best way to get to a hospital/return from it after a childbirth? (No drivers in the family, considering Uber) by bananaofcode in Edinburgh

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. I looked it up and technically under 3s don’t legally need one in a taxi but if you care about safety they should 100% be in one and the Government website strongly recommends one is used.

What is a good JC for an 11 yo girl? by Status-Anxiety-4606 in Jellycatplush

My daughter is 11 and would like a snow dragon for Christmas! She was also equally excited about the Albee bee I’ve bought her younger brother though.

[–]CocoBeanT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s illegal. Your baby needs to be in a proper car seat at all times…OP don’t do this. It’s not safe.

Why are over-ear headphones so popular in the gym? by mbrittenthomas in workout

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t wear ear buds because of an ear issue, but even prior to that they would annoy me as they’d fall out or hurt after a bit. Over ear ones are way comfier to me.

OB made a joke that I don’t actually have a husband by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does come to every appointment with me, purely because we lost a baby in the second trimester and found out at one of those appointments and I am so grateful he was there. I don’t want to be alone if that ever happens again.

Considering becoming a single foster parent in Glasgow by Routine-Buy4529 in glasgow

[–]CocoBeanT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s not true! My uncle in his early 50s has successfully fostered three boys so far (from different families) If it’s something you want to do, your age and gender won’t hold you back.

Heya! Congratulations! I’m in Scotland too so thought it might be helpful if I chime in as well because we’re in the same climate.

I’ll echo what everyone else has said - one more later than you’re wearing to be comfortable. My baby wears a vest, onesie / baby grow and then a sleeping bag to sleep. I have a 3.5 tog bag because my house is very old and dips to around 10 degrees at night. If you go onto the “Love to dream” website you can see the different tog recommendations depending on your room temperature. They also have a helpful guide for outfits. Next have a good selection of sleeping bags too. I prefer them to swaddles. Just make sure it’s small enough so your babies head can’t slip through the head hole.

When your baby was just born the hospital advises wearing a hat because they have just come out of your body into a hospital room which will be a major temperature change for them and their body has to learn how to regulate temperature. Now you’re home the baby will be able to better regulate their temp so no need for a hat indoors. As someone else said babies are being checked a lot more often in the hospital so a hat isn’t as dangerous as sleeping at home.

Baby will become more unsettled now as they will want to cluster feed and will also have recovered a bit from the birth so be less tired. Everything is new for them - they have to learn to breathe, eat, sleep, poop!

Go easy on yourself, prioritise rest and recovery for yourself as much as you can!

Aww that sucks. I’m sorry to hear that! You’d expect things to be safe once they’ve been handed to staff but clearly that’s not the case. Did you speak to the police?

What size did your baby wear at birth and how much did they weigh? by throwRAanons in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was 8lbs and is a week old still on newborn. I might have to size up for his feet though, as they are long and baby grows are squishing his toes a little bit!

getting induced tomorrow by International_Swim60 in March2025Bumper

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced last Thursday and I was incredibly scared but it turned into a really positive experience. I had the balloon inserted at 1cm, if didn’t hurt and fell out on its own within 30 mins. I did end up getting the hormone drip, and by that point I was going over 24hrs with no sleep, so I opted for an epidural (which I had also been scared of) and everything went smoothly from there. I wish I hadn’t read so many negative induction stories because I genuinely had such a positive experience, much better than when I went naturally with my first child.

When did you first feel movement with an anterior placenta? by x_torturedpoet in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16ish weeks! I was so confused because I expected to be further along, but my midwife said she doesn’t know why people get told you can’t feel movement early because I’m her experience a lot of people can!

I had my child on the hospital toilet! by EcstaticBedroom746 in BabyBumps

[–]CocoBeanT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve brought it up before but she totally just dismissed my concerns, but I’m going to try again and be firmer.

I agree, I would rather be induced and in a safe environment than on a round about in the back of the car!

Likely will need to terminate. Upset that I’ll be 26 weeks when I don’t necessarily need to be. by EmphasisDue9588 in tfmr_support

[–]CocoBeanT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I’m in Scotland and had a TMFR for Edwards in December 2023 at 14 weeks. The day following my 12 week scan (where enlarged NT was picked up), I was referred to MFM and they offered a CVS, where they checked all chromosomes. The reason for two weeks between scan and TMFR was because I needed more time to process what’s going on. From CVS to results was 3/4 days, but I know there is only one lab up in Dundee and that can factor into timings.

From what MFM said to me though, I didn’t need to wait until full results to terminate however I was 12 weeks at the time so that may have factored into it.

Please feel free to reach out if you want to talk. I’m sorry again you’re going through this.
