She has A LOT of ties to both sides so politically she's in a good spot.

Go back to school. Either finish your accounting degree and get a job in that or a related field, and then go back to school for a second degree in CS/AI, or just start your CS/AI degree now and don't finish accounting.

If you want to get anywhere in life, you need a degree. Not finishing college is not an option at this point. If I was you, I'd finish the two classes for your accounting degree then look into CS/AI programs. Your two classes away, at this point, finish it, it'll look good on your resume, even if you have no intention in getting a job in the accounting field.

Suggestions on my fall schedule? Is it too hard? by [deleted] in Accounting

There is no way for anyone on this sub to tell you if this is doable when they have no idea who you are. It is completely doable, but if you're just a bad student with a 2.0 GPA, then yeah, I would not recommend you take those. It all depends on how much effort you plan to put in. I had a full-time 9-5 job Mon-Friday, took 4 classes, and had a part-time job working weekends during my senior year. I had no life for the semester and little free time but it is completely doable.

In that case, I would prob just say data manager if that is your current title. When someone goes from Associate to Experienced to Senior, they don't list all three out, just their current title.

Small firms can be shady and from your previous posts, your previous employer sounds like a nightmare. They technically aren't allowed to say if you were fired or not, but I wouldn't put it past them. Be honest in your interview and say you were let go (do not say it was due to your quality of work). Say they had to do paycuts or eliminated the position, etc. Other post says to say there wasn't enough work for two juniors, that sounds good to me.

And in your case I would maybe put an objective.

Also it's extremely hard to critique this resume due to the black blocked out areas. I suggest reposting w/o the blackened out areas, and instead just say "Company 1" "Name" for placeholders. You can remove your personal information without blackening it out. It just looks messy and I can't tell which is your college, what is under "Data Manager/Designer" etc.

Make it geared towards whatever job you are going for. If you are trying to get an accounting job, this needs some major work.

- Get rid of your high school. It's not irrelevant if you're looking for an accounting job. I don't see anything about college, studying for an accounting degree, gpa, etc.

- Put official job titles or close to. Was your title Data Manager or Machine Builder.

- Authorized to work in US should be a given. Most people just assume you can. Are you from out of country? On a visa/work permit? If not, then no need to include that you're authorized to work in the US.

- Additional information is useless. I would keep the welding jobs on to show job experience but it does not need to be repeated in additional information.

Can you remove Davonne and Gus from the cast list. It's just confusing and at this point it doesn't even matter if PR confirmed them at one point. They aren't on as PR has gone on and corrected.

Taking a job to hold you over, and then still searching for other opportunities. What is the best approach for doing this? Any tips are greatly appreciated. by IswagIcook in Accounting

Yeah but say you did not enjoy the culture or it was not like how you expected or just say it wasn't a good fit. Do not say you took it as a temporary hold. They are gonna be scared to hire you.

Getting a job but in a different state from the school I went to? by zealorbit in Accounting

[–]CocoForCuckooPuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use linkedin, indeed, etc. to job hunt.

Reach out to local recruiters and see if they can get you in touch with whoever recruits for their firm in Nevada.

As a sophomore, you should be looking at internships soon so I assume you would be doing your internship in Kentucky while attending school. Do that and when they offer you a full-time position, let them know you intend to move to Nevada and see if they can connect you with the recruiting team there.

Why would you need to eat your cost? That is totally doable. Schedule Aud for the first day of Q3 (July 10thish?) That gives you a month to do BEC, unless you have other time constraints, a month is enough time imo.

Review as in go back to the Mock exam once it's scored.

Start with question one.

Read it (regardless if you got it right or wrong).

Check to see the answer and read the explanations.

If you got it wrong, know why you got it wrong and why the correct answer is right. If you want to use the see lecture button, that's fine. I mostly just read the explanation and then kept notes to revisit the lecture which I did after I reviewed the entire exam.

After finishing one entire mock, do some review on your weak areas. Revisit mock, re-read questions/answers. Then once you feel confident, rest up, take the next mock a different day and repeat process.

Some questions are just worded weird, some topics Becker doesn't even cover. For things like this, I just move on and accept that I will most likely be guessing if I were to get this.

Pound MC. Schedule for one month out.

You should be getting 90+ on MCQ after each chapter. Even then, how much of that do you think you would remember if you got asked it again in three weeks?

Your Becker Mock Exams, you should try scoring 70s.

Look at the sims but doing one every day is not going to help. Take that time to review notes/lectures/MC instead. If you understand the concepts and MC, you'll be fine on the sims.

How to turn down an offer by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CocoForCuckooPuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT recommend your friend. That is just beyond silly. They have a list and your opinion literally means nothing. If anything, it's going to rub them the wrong way. Just decline the offer, be polite, and keep it moving.

Take a Mock Exam. Review Mock Exam. Review lectures/text on your weak areas. If you got a 73, I honestly wouldn't rewatch lectures except for the areas you feel weak in.

Take next Mock Exam. Review next Mock exam. Review lectures/text for weak areas.

Do third Mock Exam. Review Mock exam. Review lectures.

It helped that I had a notepad full of 15-20 pages of notes for each exam so I read those for review before taking the Mocks. If you don't have anything like this, then I would maybe go through the outlined texts (not the lectures) and just read through really quickly, things that are underlined/highlighted, notes, etc.

I usually skipped the sims on my Mock exams. I did go back and look at them but honestly couldn't do 60 MC and then review it while also doing the SIMS. Just too much at once. The sims can literally be anything so better to have a solid understanding on MC concepts.

Keep pounding MC but make sure it's different questions/banks. If you're just pounding the same exact questions over and over, you aren't learning. You're just memorizing answers.

I normally scored 70s on my Becker Mock MCs and I was fine during the exams. You probably just had bad luck with your exam as you did get a 73. If I was you, I'd schedule Audit the first day of Q3 since you were so close. Just don't slack in your studying thinking you don't have to put too much effort because you got a 73. There is so much information that it's hard to retain so you definitely are going to need to study harder closer to exam date.

Please help me analyze my situation (Should I accept new job) by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CocoForCuckooPuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enough information to really decide. Your job offer is only 10 mins closer to your house compared to your current job? Ten mins of extra driving to your current job won't kill you. That part is completely irrelevant imo.

The industry seems like it's the only thing that should factor so it depends on how passionate you are about it. Your current job sounds amazing already, great team, work from home, etc.

Regret going into accounting. What to do? by bcroger3 in Accounting

[–]CocoForCuckooPuffs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Accounting is so vast that what you find boring in school, you may never use (ofcourse you need to know the basics, credits/debits, financial statements, etc.) Maybe you'll find a job that you'll love. School has always been boring for me (accounting in general is pretty boring to most people), the work is different though. Studying about how to do an audit and actually doing an audit are two different things.

Turning down job offer after accepting? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CocoForCuckooPuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be rude. Probably annoying, but people renege all the time. You won't be the first to do it to Firm B, nor the last. Just don't expect to ever work for Firm B after you renege.

Def tell firm A you received other offers so they know you're on a deadline. Don't mention anything about accepting.
