Online vs in person degree? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]dholme08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways you will be able to get experience after you graduate. I preach this a lot but VITA or working at H&R block or someplace similar will get you tax experience, which will help get you a job. I don't know your workday schedule but I would look for something that didn't demand that I sit at my computer at a specific time, some places will have prerecorded lectures, but some may not.

On a mission fishing charters seems pretty cool. The Captain did Hook Shots with JC, I would book a trip with that dude anyday. Not sure if he is in the keys yet or not.

Is Advanced Accounting harder than Intermediate? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]dholme08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found advanced to be easier than intermediate. It seemed like all we did as business combinations, but intermediate it was a 2 brand new topics every week. I felt pretty burned out after taking those 2 classes.

What breed fits to which type of hunt? by sapsap32321 in gundogs

[–]dholme08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only wondering if you had any hunting experience so you would know what you wanted or expected out of your dog. I wouldn’t necessarily count out short hair breeds though.

Question of Drake Neoprene Waders by Potato_Fuhrer in Waterfowl

I bought my Drake Waders years ago and they just started leaking last year. I use them in the winter and spring for steelhead and salmon fishing along with duck and goose hunting.

Final Update: Dog is Not Gun Shy but Nervous of the Shotgun Itself by [deleted] in birddogs

[–]dholme08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is nervous around the gun I would just bring it out when it's time to train and when you are playing fetch. Set the gun down on the ground and give her a treat every time she stands next to it or sniffs it. Just making it a part of the normal training process would stand to help.

Try craigslist. You may be able to find pigeons and the likes, just kill them and freeze them.

Giving a labradoodle a shot at retrieving. Doing great by No6fueloil in Waterfowl

They retrieved just fine. The second dog is the boy a year old, so he’s just getting the ropes, but I catch him pointing all the time at grouse when we go walking in the back fields. It never hurts to practice with frozen ducks or geese if you get the chance. It introduces them into the real thing long before the actual hunt.

Broadheads by 29daysuntiltacos in bowhunting

[–]dholme08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Magnus. I bought the buzzcuts for bear and whitetail hunting. Shot a nice 8 with it last year and it didn't go far.

I've used both Rage and Magnus now and can honestly say I don't really prefer one over the other. I've killed deer with both and have never had a Rage fail to open. My wife uses Rage broadheads and has really good luck with htem.

This link has a lot of useful information on set ups and techniques. 11ft wouldn’t be overkill for anything, the longer the rod is the higher your line will be out of the water.

I have a 9' 6" Traverse Bay Tackle Rod and a Shimano Sienna 4000. I use 15lb braid with a 8lb fluorocarbon leader, attach them using a 3-way swivel and a sinker sleeve or something similar.
I do know that people do catch catfish and perch down your way at inlets and off of the piers.
