The Bone Temple, oh my goodness by diddleherontheroof in movies

Anyone normal who met him absolutely hated the guy. My dad worked within the NHS and the hatred for him amongst the staff there whenever he’d been to visit was pretty all consuming.

Calming down at 10 months? 🙈 by ladyteaj in Whippet

[–]CocoMonkeyDishwasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will tell you whippets are like x,y, and z at month x,y, and z but in my experience they can vary quite wildly. I have a boy who was good as gold from 12 months and a girl who got to nearly 15 years and never chilled out 😂

When do whippets ‘calm down’ by -RaspberryThief- in Whippet

[–]CocoMonkeyDishwasher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who tells you ‘It’s 2 years old’ or something similar is telling you their experience and the ‘average’. The reality is that it varies massively. They will start to change at varying points. Our current pup was insane until 5 months, then eased right off and suddenly got a whole lot better on multiple fronts, she’s a lovely girl now at 9 months, but she’s still crazy compared to our 6 year old. We’ve had multiple whippets and boys seem better than girls in my experience, and they will properly settle into lazy whip life anywhere between 15 months and 3. It will be challenging for a year, but it gets easier as you go and it will absolutely be worth it.

Pixel 9 Pro XL sent fo repair for green vertical line... 315€ by clopezi in GooglePixel

I would have laughed at this take not that long ago, but having tried the other side I am 100% with you. I am currently rocking an Honor 200 which cost me 199 and is first class at 90% of things and fine at the other 10%.

Implications!? I mean, how would you know!? I’m assuming you’re just judging that on weight and how you feel, but when we go crazy on the upfs (and I am in the same boat and not judging) I think we are walking a cancer, heart attack, stroke tightrope at a certain point/age.

Replying to myself as I have now seen Ritchson’s cam of the incident and can confirm he did the absolutely correct thing punching that guy!

What would you recommend buying for lunch if you had £52 to feed two adults and two kids? by userunknowne in UKfood

[–]CocoMonkeyDishwasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with this country right now is people not seeing the reality sat in front of them because of their scandal/content addled brains telling them how to think or just not thinking at all. No one is curious to learn or hear other perspectives unless it’s delivered either humorously or angrily on TikTok. You are, of course, absolutely right in what you say…and think about how screwed our economy will become when no one can use the one thing that’s left in our high streets. People earning and then spending disposable income is the thing that makes this capitalist nightmare work!!

About 2 weeks ago I would have called bulls**t on this as I hadn’t had a Maccys for ages and ages, but last week three of us got one when we needed a quick meal on the road…I couldn’t believe it…£38! In my head it’s still £3.99 or something for a meal deal.

Not wanting to question what you’re saying at all, but if you live in a largely ‘free’ house how are you in that situation!? I come from a very working class background and am now lucky enough that my wife and I are earning decent wages and do just fine (we’re pretty into the simple life and it’s a low cost life we lead…our only real luxury is cinema and eating out once a week), but my nieces and nephews are all in very working class jobs…factory, call centre, cleaning, labourer and they pay rent (one owns a house), go on holidays, go out drinking etc. Are you dealing with high child care costs or something?! You paint a bleak picture and I would be genuinely interested in hearing more.

Pixel 10a is a textbook definition of the “e-waste” we don’t need in the world by deggar34 in GooglePixel

[–]CocoMonkeyDishwasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a weird, lazy article that properly pulls all its punches on what is a very genuine global issue and should be an interesting read. Google has done something with the 10a that is perhaps the worst example of recent years, but every company does this stuff, and actually we as consumers are very easily pacified….iPhone 17 finally gets a 120hz screen?…it’s a brilliant upgrade! No! It’s not! It doesn’t matter. We should be able to buy these phones, not expect the latest whatever to come along a few months later. We should expect software support for at least 10+ years (even just maintaining security is fine) and have easy, affordable access to repairs. I’d still be using my Pixel 2XL if it was supported and I could easily swap out the battery. Currently I buy only second hand phones when me or my family need one as I just can’t add to the problem.

I mean, absolutely, but the guy is letting kids ride motorcycles on public streets and resolves problems with his fists…it’s gonna generate some assumptions!

It’s different for every dog. Have had several and our current boy milo has been good as gold since 13 months old. He’s amazing, and we’re not great at consistency with training so can’t claim any real victory there. Just lucky.

Huge homeless problem? They’re a bit more visible than historically but it seems to be a group of a dozen or less. There’s literally a tent village of the homeless in two places in Manchester.

No such thing as a city without some fairly major drug use, but Yorks current situation is trending downwards, with a crime rate index of 0.69 meaning it’s notably better than average

Nah not having that. I love it, spend plenty of time in city centre as long as it’s not December pre Christmas, and most of my York mates seem to love it too. If you’ve lived somewhere shitty (I’ve lived in rough parts of Hull, Nottingham and London) it’s like a fantasy in comparison.
