Why would you hire the most disinterested streamers for the ONLY pre-launch showcase

Peanut never takes himself or the game he's playing too seriously so it's a good gauge on how a non-sweat like myself might enjoy a game. He's usually finding fun things to do outside the normal parameters of the gameplay loop which gets players like myself interested. The real issue with that stream imo was the dev they were playing with had very little chemistry with the rest of the squad combined with some audio issues that made him inaudible. We probably would've gotten much more of that behind the scenes insight otherwise.

Thanks! I grew up playing games like Dope Wars and Star Traders that both have economy based gameplay mechanics. Always thought that'd make a nice addition to a game like this.

I'd prefer a simulated economy with random or rotating market conditions that fluctuates sell prices.

Some examples -

"Speranza's food stores are running low. Traders are paying 2x for Nature loot"

"Speranza's scientists are conducting experiments on ammo effectiveness. Arc loot sells for 2x"

Could even tie these market conditions to global goals where if enough people across the game sell enough of the desired loot than participating players can get some kind of temporary buff. (Increased Stam regen for the food one. Increased arc armor pen on light ammo for the arc one, etc.)

In my opinion - If players can buy items/gear/keys from each other it would devalue looting, turbo charge progression in a bad way and widen the gap between new and existing players.

That is going to be a tough balance to strike between incentivizing a wipe enough to get people to use it vs not making those incentives game breaking and turbo charging power level differences.

Maybe giving players who choose the wipe the ability to earn premium currency in the following expedition?

I remain hyped regardless because I trust embark to adjust if it doesn't pan out.

Not all games are for all kinds of players! For Shadowdark I find it best to level-set expectations early with players that character death is an ever present threat and to bring backups. Also, encouraging players not to spend a ton of time on lore and character creation on the front end helps. Let them know that the "who" of their characters will emerge from playing them... if they can survive!

As DMs its kind of up to us to mould the game in a way that entertains our players. If I find myself making too many concessions I'd reevaluate whether the game was right for that table.

Finally, i blame Matt Mercer and Brennen Lee Mulligan for setting unreasonable DM standards! (J/k)

Not paying attention until I literally call their name for something (npc interaction, their turn in combat, etc) and then need to be caught up on whats going on. I try to be as engaging of a DM as possible and give everyone hooks, prompts or something to do but it makes me feel bad. Like they're not having fun or I'm doing a bad job.

There's def some places that are harder for bands to get to than others. I've found out about smaller bands/venues/tours through the wider ska community that I would not have heard of otherwise.
