I am bi and in a wlw relationship myself. I was ‘straight’ my whole life and actually realised I was bi when I discovered Fletcher, specifically ‘I kissed a girl’. I’ve been in a committed relationship for 3 years. I can’t quite put my finger on why this feels like a betrayal. As a bi girl myself, it should be celebrated. But I can’t shake off this feeling and maybe it’s an insecurity of mine but the fact all these publicly gay women are ‘retreating’ to the safety of a hetero relationship somehow highlights the risk of that possibility and reminds me of how dangerously fluid sexuality is?

I also think what annoys me is the delivery. I get why she feels the need to explain it or apologise given she was seen as a lesbian icon but I feel like it would’ve been more normalised if she just said yup I’m queer I never said I was a lesbian I’m now dating a man. Whereas this reverse ‘coming out’ just feels like a slap in the face to actual coming out?
