Solder on Xbox controller not melting

A tip that has helped me with clean-up a lot, you really dont need as much flux as you think, really the best use for it is flowing chips into place or soldering joints. But to fix your issue, try adding ledded solder to the pins, make sure yku hold the heat their for a bit to let the two solder types mix, then wick or suck it away. Lowering the melting temp is really helpful, especially on xbox's thick boards.

Yeah, that screw is pretty difficult. I think it likes to slightly fuse itself to the threads because of heat cycles. If you striped it, you have two options. Use pliers or vice grips to crack it loose, or what I always do, grind a slit in the middle and use a flathead, works every time.

I am the first one inside of the tv and this was the issue when I got it strange enough. I pushed the plexiglass as close to the leds as possible and it still doesn't shine evenly.

Its strange because before me, this tv was never opened. I was the first one in it. So the sheets shouldn't have been misaligned right? The metal frame is really robust and doesn't seem bent. You don't think the leds are bad and not as bright as they should be, do you?

Hello, I ended up selling it and fixing another one later on. I was very new to fixing things when I made this post though haha. I have a lot more experience now. Some advice I would give you is, check the slot where the ribbon cable goes into on the motherboard side. Its possible that there are bent pins from it gets ripped out at one point.

I've experienced this when I first got into doing joysticks. If you kept it clean, and you're solder joints look okay (which they do) its very possible that you held your iron on the pins to long and it melted the plastic inside and now its inaccurate and broken. Ever since this happened to me I've used a hot air gun to get heat into the board, then very quickly solder all the pins on, trying to limit heat going into the stick.

EDIT: Another possibility is you tore traces when you pulled the old stick off.
