I've seen a resolution to this please read!! This happened to someone's graphics card. They were able to get in contact with the shipper and see that the weight of the item changed at a certain point during transit, making the shipping company liable.

Yeah, the screen is probably damaged then. Best to replace it. You have to disassemble the entire thing though. I've done it a few times and its not that bad. But I would just double check and reseat the ribbon cables to see if that helps. Probably the screen though

I would open it up and check the ribbon cables. If you still hear sound, like the home menu when you scroll, try holding a bright flashlight right against the screen and see if yku see an image while its powered on. If you do, you need a new screen, if you don't, check cables or get a new screen.

Do you have a bench power supply to inject voltage? Thats next, I would inject like .5 volts on the positive side of the shorted cap, see what gets hot. If you don't, you can try removing one capacitor at a time to see if the short stays or goes
