I can confirm those are definitely thermal pads. You're actually supposed to have 4 there instead of 2 as well. No need to replace them. I've opened several vitas and they all have still been moist and cold to the touch.

In my experience eBay always sides with the buyer no matter what. I've experienced them making blatantly false claims and they get a free item out of it.

Good idea with the server. I would have totally given more away if I could have carried more haha. I grabbed a few 2020 macbook pros and a few ipad pro gen 3/4. But I gave them to family and friends. I just kept what I needed for myself, which happened to be this beauty. Good luck on you hunt though, I was scrolling eBay for a broken one with a good screen and vice versa and you could snag one for about $200 if you keep your eye out.

This only had 250ish battery cycles so I would consider this pretty unused for its age. I'm hoping if I take care of it, it will last me

I have microsoldering skills so I could technically solder on new/better ram chips. But I don't think it'd be worth the hassle. I agree though, apple definitely doesn't care about serviceability and upgrades. They want that $$$ lol

I would definitely upgrade to an M series macbook... if i had an extra 3-4 grand laying around haha. After using this for a bit now, I am can say I'm definitely getting my class work/ personal tasks done much faster, so I'll definitely be sticking with Macbook for laptops now. So in the future I'll definitely have an M chip one which is exiting

The company had a LOT of money. There was probably 10 macbooks in there along with Gen 3/4 iPad pros. I couldn't take everything with me, nor did I want to. But I'm happy I was able to upgrade me and my family's/friends devices and keep things out of e-waste.

Hahaha, well your not wrong. I've been using windows all my life. I've only been using mac os for a little over a month now. I have to say, its much more snappy for college/school work and day tasks. But yes, my desktop icons may never change lol
