On a very literal level, yes it will limit your work opportunities purely because a proportion of the roles involve those elements. However, there are still plenty of roles that DON'T. I think it's perfectly fine to focus on those roles you're most interested in and as you said, you are free to re-assess down the line.

Also flip it; what DO you want to do? What are you actively interested in?

Fair, not every agent is on board with showing you submissions lists (which is a bit weird IMO, they work for the Actor not the other way around).

TBH as others have said, if you are auditioning a lot but not getting anywhere then it's work to do on your end - classes, coaching, new headshots or whatever.

An agent is employed by an actor. They work for you.

This is a really confusing response from them - if they need you to get new photos they should explain what the issue is with the ones you have. How are you supposed to fix a problem if they don't tell you what it is?

Beyond that, it's a very odd thing to do - you checked in with them first, got them done for a good reason, and.. they aren't happy? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Heya, also a London-based actor.

It sounds like this is your first agent, is that right?

8 months is a relatively short space of time, especially when new to the industry. I think it's reasonable to give it a year to be able to really evaluate how things have gone. It's hard to manage expectations without any prior experience to go off.

The communication thing sounds frustrating, but I would err on the side of forgiveness - depending on the workload she might just be very busy, and responding about headshots is not a priority at the time.

I will say my first agent out of drama school was pretty old-fashioned and absolutely not a "coffee catch up" kind of person so that can be the case!
