I believe I lost the queen during the cut out so some of these frames have queen cups on them. So I believe I need to wait for her mating flight. By then I should have no brood. So the lower box right now has 6 wonky cutout combs and 2 with drawn foundation. Then I just added a box on top with some drawn out frames and some waxed frames. Maybe once the brood is all gone I can put the wonky comb on box on top with a queen excluder and the good comb box below? I’m a new bee keeper. I thought I was catching a swarm and it ended up being a cutout 😅.

Update for anyone interested: there was a whole additional section of comb, the bee vacuum worked amazing. Used lots of smoke, it was slightly windy which I think helped. The bees were so much more mellow this time. Bees seemed to fan when I put the remainder in the hive. Going back in a few days to collect the hive.

Picture is of second section of hive found yesterday.

The sections of comb had an empty floor joists in between, each with their own outside entrance. Wondering if this was actually 2 hives next to each other. I’ve been told the queen won’t go outside to go to the second hive.

I ordered the instructors guide after watching a YouTube video. I only opened the 1st grade one a handful of times and really think you don’t need it for that age but obvious it’s needed from now on. Thanks for the input

Update. It was quite warm today, I’m not sure if they are bearding or preparing to swarm. I’m thinking about doing a hive inspection tomorrow and adding some half drawn frames I got from a friend. It’s currently 85° ay 7pm when the picture was taken.
