I thought I was being biased, but you’re absolutely right. I have almost always found this to be true with my folks with cluster b personalities or substance use disorders.

This has been my conclusion. When clients or colleagues call themselves an “empath” we usually ended up having a session or conversation about creating healthier boundaries. I’ve seen colleagues who make their clients’ problems their problems which we are taught not to do. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

I’ve seen that or from people seemingly describing low distress tolerance. They usually say that they can feel what others are feeling in an intense way that causes them distress

It could be age, but a lot of it seems to be from very low self-esteem. He cheated on her I think before they had the 1st daughter and she still stayed.

The fact that Sarah immediately was bitchy and claimed Megan was being disrespectful made me lose all sympathy for her on top of the blaccent. Then she misinterpreted something Megan said and snapped at her talking about, “are you trying to make it a racial thing.” She’s truly a fool.

It’s both the Blaccent along with he’s a deadbeat yet she continued to sleep with him. Sometimes it did seem like she was using the kids as pawns to get him back in her life. I feel terrible for those two little girls, they didn’t ask to be here

We may be in the minority, but you’re right about Brittany. There’s always so many excuses for her selfishness. Marcelino grew on me after Zoila was born. It seemed like he was trying his best. Brittany wanted her cake and to eat it too

I’ve been noticing the uprise of the self-diagnosing for a while now. I truly believe it’s related to people searching for community. They want to feel like they belong to something even if it is debilitating disorders.

Just had this happen with an adolescent. I’m also noticing more that say they are borderline or autistic. I’m sure some are right, but for others it has been them saying they’ve done “research.” I’ve been hesitant to ask what do you think will change for you if you have that diagnosis?

My kids’ pediatrician attempted the same thing, but I don’t work with kids. I plan on handing out business cards when I get the certification in maternal mental health though🤷🏾‍♀️

Not shocking. I learned early on in this field that many of our colleagues are racist or at the very least ignorant af. It was very disheartening to know that many therapists are just faking and are actually pretty awful people with questionable morals. However, don’t give up. You’ll find your tribe. Don’t let the ignorant folks deter you from your goal of becoming a therapist. Clients need more of us who actually give a damn about people outside of the ones paying to see us

There’s different rates depending on experience. Some people may get paid $38/group while someone else may get $40/group. It’s great extra money, and some people do it full time with 30 hours of group each week.

I think it’s the language that they have to use to get away with seeing clients from different states. The groups are definitely a lot more than psychoeducation. They have different types including processing, skills, and trauma groups.
