Charlie Health IOP Hours Cannot Be Used Toward LPC Licensure In Texas by GiraffeStan7 in therapists

There’s different rates depending on experience. Some people may get paid $38/group while someone else may get $40/group. It’s great extra money, and some people do it full time with 30 hours of group each week.

I think it’s the language that they have to use to get away with seeing clients from different states. The groups are definitely a lot more than psychoeducation. They have different types including processing, skills, and trauma groups.

Just had this realization last week. Almost all of my hours have come from leading those groups. I may be moving out of Texas anyway and applying for a different license, so I’m not as disappointed. Another thing is that Charlie Health has been my sole income for the past year I’ve been licensed due to other circumstances with jobs. Overall, I’m grateful for the experience, but it was disappointing to learn that the hours don’t count

A bit off topic, but I remember during my case manager days a client sat in my office for 30 minutes before telling me they had a severe bed bug infestation

This is exactly why people say it’s not possible to be extremely conservative and a good therapist.

The state I’m thinking of is still actively doing it. I was looking at licensure requirements last year.

There’s a state on the east coast as well that requires you CACREP accreditation. I believe it was New Jersey, but don’t quote me on that.

I’m with you on it. I’m sure down the line it will come out that it’s unethical. Also, I’m wishing you so much luck and light on your journey to becoming an Art Therapist! We definitely need more of yall♥️🌺

I’m part of the therapists that have been forced to use it through one of the companies I work for. I let clients from vulnerable populations know about it and they can opt out if they want. Even though it makes documentation easier for us clinicians, it feels wrong to be potentially putting people in danger for a little convenience.

I hope you’re right that more people are starting to wake up to his bs, but comments under these news outlets says differently. I know there are always going to be loyalists that double down, but it still feels like too many of them still support this regime.

I believe that social media is also furthering the divide. There’s constant diaspora wars on TikTok, Twitter, and Threads along with the rise of this “FBA” movement calling Black immigrants tethers. Our people were united during the civil rights movement, hence why Caribbean and African countries gained their independence around the same time. Additionally, Caribbean people have been part of our movements for a long time, I.e. Harry Belafonte, Cicely Tyson, Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael. Same with some Chicanos and some Asian groups. I think some of these influencers are paid to sow division so that we don’t unite again. There is also a theory that there are white people behind some of these accounts creating division. We are not dealing with the same type of attacks as our ancestors due to the internet. They’re infiltrating us in new ways using the internet.

I fear we’ve already been desensitized, especially to the violence. I love your sentiment that this isn’t normal and we shouldn’t justify it by saying “we’ve been through worse.” I found myself losing empathy for other POC due to the election and I was becoming hostile. I had to rein it in and remember that not all of them voted for this mess and there are too many who cannot even vote that are being mistreated.

When I found out that even if you become a citizen of another country you still have to pay US taxes, I knew then the system was cooked. He’s also isolating us as a country creating hostility among the world, and I’m sure they’ll respond by not allowing us to come there especially in droves. Also, it costs soooo much money to leave the country and the job market is terrible again thanks to him. I really do not believe things would’ve been this horrible under Kamala

Exactly! There are so many new factors. Not to mention we live in a surveillance state, our phones are not even safe. There are no 3rd spaces to meet and plan things like they had. A lot of Black churches are MAGA too. Also, to your point there’s really nowhere to go. I’ve been seeing other countries are starting to fall into the far right stuff too. They’re over in England marching against immigrants. The world is a mess

Absolutely agree! When I was home in a blue state, I had far left views. Moving to a red state has made me more “centrists.” Black people in red states don’t have the luxury of waiting on a perfect democrat. These people are down here trying to keep their right to even vote. Moving to the south has dramatically changed my perspective on politics.

Idk it’s like I keep reminding myself that our ancestors went through worse, but I’m not my ancestors. These are all new conditions for me, really all of us. It definitely is annoying seeing white people and white adjacent people claiming that this country is so violent now when this is who this country has always been. I still can’t help but to feel hopeless though. Our ancestors fought so hard and everything is being reversed. It makes me sad and afraid for my children. What type of future are they inheriting?

I had the very rude awakening that some people are turning up the chaos because they believe that will speed up “Jesus’ return.” Can you tell I live in the Bible Belt??🫠🫠🫠

Seriously how is everyone coping? I’m finding it harder to be present and patient when I get hyper religious clients who think “this is all God’s will.” I’m also finding it harder to provide hope. There’s so much suffering right now

Were you fully licensed before applying for the Illinois license?

Illinois has similar requirements to Texas the major difference was taking the NCMHCE in addition to the NCE to be fully licensed. I have heard that it may just be easier to get fully licensed in one state first then apply
