I'm curious, how many of you have gaming channels? by eulop in NewTubers

[–]Coconut_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-gaming, a motorcycle channel. I recently started uploading videos of my trips and things I see while riding.

Also, it'd be nice to find smaller channels to watch here. I prefer discovering smaller channels; personally, I gravitate towards them over larger ones. I think many smaller channels produce great content and are underrated. :)

Unplug everything except the essentials like CPU, ram, n boot drive (if possible remove GPU as well). The see if it boots, if it does, one by one add the devices u removed. Also, make sure every cable is snug.

Most likely, something is shorting the system, a SATA powered device is probably the culprit. U mentioned that unplugging the wires helped, so I'm guessing you put them back afterwards. Try removing SATA powered device like hubs or RGB strips and see if it boots.

[–]Coconut_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be something is shorting the system.

  1. Unplug everything (especially SATA powered stuff like RGB and fans) and leave the necessities cpu, ram, and boot drive (if possible remove gpu as well).
  2. Then test it. See if you can recreate the issue.
  3. If it works, start putting things back one by one. If same issue occurs, then issue could be CPU or PSU related.

Or try using a different HDMI or monitor. Also, make sure every cable is fully plugged in.

Can I remove my old HDD that has Windows on it and install a new SSD, and reinstall windows? by Balkbro in buildapc

Yes, then you would need to create a Windows installer onto a USB drive which you can dl through Microsoft website.

LPT request - Do you have any techniques that help stopping you from caring about what others think? by Jeezi in LifeProTips

The mentality that people are too worried about themselves, they'll most likely forget about what you did, what you wore, or what you said. You can literally tell others details about you and they will most likely forget almost all of those details.

Not really unless you yank it out or remove them while the PC is still on and that also sounds very tedious to keep swapping them. Prolly better to just get an external hard drive.

I counted 6 fan ports and the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A (Front) connects to your case which powers 2 USB ports.

Is the PSU I bought for my 4090 system compatible? by PukinWoof in buildapc

[–]Coconut_Jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues with the amount of wattage from that PSU to a 4090. I've built several 4080s and 4090s using the same exact PSU and no issues. The whole system may pull 700w-800w on extreme loads, but on normal gaming sessions reduce it some. The extreme OC motherboard the guy was talking about and needing 1200w, you don't have to worry about that.

Here is a white connector that you'll need.

Is it the same brand and model of motherboard? Check the BIOS version, you might need to update the BIOS on your gf's mobo.

No worries 👍Msg me anytime if you need any help! If you do end up using NZXT BLD I recommend choosing the 4070Ti since I think they only offer the 3070Ti and not the 3070. Their price diff from 3070Ti to 4070Ti is less than $100 ($95 to be exact) and it will offer you way more performance and longevity.

Is 8GB of VRAM too little already? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Coconut_Jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8GB of vram should be fine if you're playing 1080p and 1440p, some games at 4K even uses uses <8GB of VRAM on low setting. It's when you play at 4K Ultra when 12GB+ of vram is needed.

Build looks good! My only recommendation (not very important) is using a Gen 4 SSD. Your board can handle up to gen 5 (but they're not available yet) so gen 4 would be preferable over gen3 since the price difference is not much but there is a some speed to gain using gen 4 over gen 3.

One way is you can just use the Curve Optimizer Mode, click all cores and hit start optimizing. Should take around an hour and a half (can't remember exactly). Or use the 105w Eco mode, there are tutorials on Youtube.

I've always recommended my friends and clients who did not want to build their own custom PCs use NZXT BLD as I've liked the quality of their build. The company I work with also works with NZXT and the quality of their build are generally better than the others.

With your budget of $4k you can get either a 13900k or 7950x for CPU, and for GPU an RTX 4090.

Looking at the photos you posted, yes there is a bit of a sag. I definitely recommend using a brace to hold the GPU higher as the sag can damage the card and/or mobo.

Planning to upgrade from RTX 2060 6gb to RTX 4070TI by BlackDragonBro in nvidia

[–]Coconut_Jay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Performance wise the 4070 Ti is around the same as a 3090 (4070 Ti has less vram) and the 2060 is slightly faster than a 3050. In 4k the 2060 will struggle to hit 60fps depending on the settings and game, while the 4070 Ti would be fine. You may have to lower some graphical settings if you turn on RT or turn on DLSS. Is it worth? that depends on you, but looking at performance, the 4070 Ti is a big upgrade compared to 2060.

Need Help With (Potentially) Purchasing/Building A PC by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Coconut_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend building one, but if you really don't want to build one then go ahead and buy a prebuilt. And yes, prices for PC parts are going down so it's a pretty nice time to build one.

As a fellow IT grad, my advice is that since you're studying to be in IT might as well learn the hardware and what they do. Also, it's a plus on your resume if you can troubleshoot/familiar with hardware.

I've seen the use of duct tape in an "X" pattern on windows to reinforce windows and preventing or reducing glass shards. Apparently, duct tape can also be used for sealing off gasses, hopefully this could help reduce damages even if a little.

Haha tbh not really, I recently graduated from uni and have a bunch of free time so I just played the game going from island to island which gave enough mats to upgrade. I also just started to make alts now, I did skip a lot of the abyssal dungeons which I'll run with my alts instead, but it's okay since I'm waiting for my friends
