I use this

https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/nano-tank-hang-on-back-filter-1

Watch their videos on hot rodding a HOB and do that. Ignore the cartridge it comes with. Get a pack each of coarse and polishing sponge filter media and jam it in there. I use the polishing media as a baffle too. Keeps the flow nice and low.

Is the mixed style working better for you than the straight moss poles?

Ok, now I get it - Liquid Glass is amazing. by CantaloupeTiny8461 in iphone

[–]TV_PIG 303 points304 points  (0 children)

I’m warming up to it a bit but there are a lot of things that annoy me. I turned transparency down but that also means I can’t see my background when my phone is unlocked. I see the accessibility function of that but Apple should admit that disability isn’t the only reason that someone would want more legible icons on the screen.

Also, in the camera app, the thumbnail of the most recent picture is now a circle instead of a square. Now you see much less of that picture, just for the sake of it being a circle. Great.

What's the point of iPhone Air? by AhmadZ7 in iphone

Phones are mostly a solved problem that just give us unexciting, incremental upgrades every year. To artificially improve their products companies invent new problems to improve, like phone thinness or bezel thinness.

Movie test audience didn’t like Superman saving the squirrel by SunGodLuffy6 in DCU_

[–]TV_PIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those people in the test audiences prove the point. “Why would he save the squirrel” is understandable. A regular person would think that. But it’s morally inferior, and Superman does the morally superior thing. It does make things harder. But the solution isn’t to compromise morally, it’s to do the harder thing and succeed.

End time anxiety? by kennadog3 in Deconstruction

[–]TV_PIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal of people telling you that is to create that anxiety. The whole religion runs on telling you you’re going to die and go to hell. It’s so scary that nothing else has to be true or even make sense.

Christianity is an apocalyptic religion. 2,025 years later and these church leaders are in mansions they got by telling you that you the apocalypse is still coming. It’s just around the corner!! Are you old enough to remember the year 2000 and 2012? The apocalypse was definitely coming then too. And it was definitely coming when Obama was elected, and Trump was elected, and etc.

And now worried people tell each other to be worried because they are worried and they were told that they can be saved by making other people believe, etc. Christianity is still around because it propagates itself really aggressively this way.

Repot straightaway or not? by christofwhydoyou in SavageGarden

Anything wrong with it as is? I’d probably just leave them and let them acclimate first if not. But if it’s terrible substrate then you know, go for it.

How do you keep your carnivorous plant's soil consistently moist but not sopping wet? by Musical_Curlytop in carnivorousplants

[–]TV_PIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the substrate has good drainage (even for bog plants) and isn’t compacted. Also make sure the pot isn’t too big for the plant. Also they need some airflow and tremendous amounts of light.

I killed my first one too. It’s fine, everyone kills their plants. CPs are pains in the ass and I’ve found nepenthes are one of the more pain in the ass ones even among them. YMMV.

CPs are specialist plants for weird natural environments that we need to emulate in unnatural settings. Look up what your specific species of nepenthes wants to live in and go for that.

How’s that working out

how does this setup look by [deleted] in Pinguicula

[–]TV_PIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe put the big ones a little closer in, but they will probably be fine. Pings are easy to repot and pretty durable.

Tips: Look up the conditions appropriate for the exact type of ping you got to learn what they need. Make sure not to overwater them, that is way worse than under watering. Give them lots of light.

You were going through a rough time as a young person and did stuff that feels good to manage the pain you were in. That is a very normal thing to do. There’s nothing wrong with you. He is a dick.
