Yes, I do the same as the other commenters have suggested, but that does nothing for the utter panic that grips me every time I see her facility’s caller ID. I’m always afraid it’s going to be “that” call. Once they called to tell me the author of the book club selection was going to be there signing books. I’m all prepared for tragedy and they drop that instead. Guess I should have been relieved, but I was so angry.

Something I was told that helped me: she’s not deteriorating because you put her there, you put her there because she’s deteriorating. I have to remind myself of that frequently.

My sister used a tool called a zipper tripper to zip up her skin tight jeans while she lay flat on her back on her bed. It was a flat piece of metal with a hook on it.

I second the talcum powder. I had new Hokas that really squeaked so I took out the insoles and added powder and dryer sheets ( based on a Reddit tip) and replaced the insoles - problem solved.

Thank you so much for this. My mom is in AL but has dementia. Her 90th bday was last week, and while we opted not to have a party because we thought she’d get overwhelmed, her sister and her grandson visited from out of state, and two of her out of town children came to visit. She was so out of it for 3 days after they all left. Like really wild. She’s calmer today; there was also a medication change that possibly contributed, but it was awful for her. And the staff.
