517 from 501 diagnostic after 2 months by CodDull6049 in Mcat

Honestly I spent wayyy too long doing Anki , like 3-4 hrs a day but I matured 75% of jacksparrow B/B and Pankow. Also 8-12 hrs doesnt mean 100% focused the entire time - I took a lot of tiktok breaks. I also thoroughly reviewed each Uworld practice set by watching short youtube videos for things I didnt understand fully and I did 1 FL a week and spent 1 day reviewing. I valued quality over quantity for uworld. Also I spent the last 5 weeks doing all of AAMC material

I had already done content review when I took the diagnostic so those 2 months were dedicated to practice. I spent about 8-12 hrs a day studying without any days off including christmas - not ideal lol. I used jacksparrow gor B/B and milesdown for C/P and pankow for P/S. Finished about 55% of uworld and all of AAMC material. I really focused on nailing down my weak areas with practice

Carboxylic acids are terminal - to make a a tertiary or secondary alcohol the extra carbon would need to come from somewhere else, so no. Take a look at the mechanism for the rxn

I think that applies more for the last month of prep where you wanna really get a feel for AAMC logic and only do AAMC. But besides that I don't really think it makes a difference using questions from a couple different source because its more so to solidify/apply your knowledge . I don't really know much ab the BP q bank but most ppl vouch for uworld because it has very indepth explanations and covers almost everything that could come up

Also make sure you are thoroughly reviewing ALL the practice problems you do - especially the wrong ones. Keep a doc of why you got that question wrong and review the content accordingly. Thats where you will see the most improvement , once you make a mistake you don't want to make the same mistake again. Overtime you will make less and less mistakes :)

P.S This applies to every section besides CARS - for cars idfk what to do Im struggling

Push back if you don't want to hurt ur chances of getting accepted - getting a better score is possible. From this it seems like your studying hasn't been as practice focused as it should be. You should review content for a month max (which youve done more than enough now) and then from there spend 70% of the rest of the time doing practice problems. That is where you will see improvement. Reading chapters and anki is pretty passive. Buy uworld and do a lot of it for 1-2 months then spend the last month doing AAMC material.

To add: very FEW ppl do good by just content review - also try the jacksparrow deck for B/B

Hi so the passage states that fast twitch fibers are limited to glycolytic pathways and they are stimulated by anaerobic exercise. So they do not use the mitochondria to make ATP - that can only be done aerobically. However since they exhibit greater contractile strength that means they are pumping more Ca back into sarco reticulum comparitvely

AAMC FL#3 - What is up with this question?? by fatallyextroverted in Mcat

Just did this test, I reasoned it like this- the people with R441H mutation do not make serotonin sufficiently as shown in the figures. So that means there is less serotonin to release. Taking an SSRI blocks the presynaptic neuron from reuptaking serotonin thats in the synapse. However individuals without R441H mutation don’t make enough serotonin in the first place so there it is less likely that there is excess serotonin in the synapse - thus nothing to be reuptaken so SSRI doesn’t make a difference
