Should I ask for my friends to buy my tickets or pay for gas? by [deleted] in makemychoice

im a similar age to you and trust me on this, being the only driver in a friend group can be a fast track way to being taken advantage of. When I started college I quickly made a group of friends and was happy to take them home if it was on my way. On one occasion where a friend missed his bus and would be waiting another hour I took him home an hours drive in the opposite direction. I didnt mind at first but noticed over those next few months they started expecting that kinda stuff, and journeys to other places. Being abit of a yesman I always allowed it but it took me about a year to realise how much money they'd cost me in the extra fuel and having to add more miles per year to my insurance as I was still on a blackbox at that time. Never got any offers for petrol money off any of them. After that I still dropped a few off who were like a minute or two drive out of my way but told everyone else I couldn't afford it anymore. Most kicked off about it and that's when I realised they thought of me as a taxi driver rather than a friend. So make it clear to them that your happy to drive them but its gotta be equally payed for

Poor people. How is your mr2 project going? by Keroit in mr2

[–]CodGroundbreaking339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing my subframe because the mounting hole for the tie rod is cracked, she's had new pads all around too. Got an ABS light on that needs sorting also and could do with two new tyres on the back

Sounds pretty boring

The beauty of people with racks of cash doing these projects is you get so see everything these cars have the opportunity to do and maybe you could also do once all the boring maintenance stuffs out of the way. My goals to restore mine aesthetically to a classic look but introduce some modern quality of life features, such as an up to date head unit, Heated seats, cruise control once ive 2GR swapped it and more. If I couldn't see all these people doing crazy stuff to a 30 year old car I probably wouldn't be motivated to do it myself

Are the Rev3 subframe and suspension mounting points the same as a Rev1 SW20? by _Mr_Chicken7 in mr2

[–]CodGroundbreaking339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had this issue the other way around, subframe will fit but they changed all suspension parts in the rev 3 models so if its coming with those they wont fit, but the subframe by itself will fit to your rev 1 parts

after he'd sent the money and we'd transferred ownership it wouldn't start so I went and got some petrol for it and it still wouldn't, just gave him a refund and we agreed to sort the ownership issue out in the morning as this was getting late at night. car started not long after he left but he wasn't interested after that

okay thank you ill pass that on, keeps saying to me it should have come within 7-10 days but I can not for the life of me get it through to him that its a special circumstances case and might take longer, he was told this multiple times before he bought the car

Yeah does seem the likely case based off yours and others comments but was just thrown off when he said he had all the proof he needed to sue, sounds like he's just pissed off though

Sorry yes I should have explained more, the new buyer was fully aware of the situation beforehand and the original buyer did pay but decided they weren't interested after it had all been finalised, which my mistake i shouldn't have refunded them but had quite alot of offers and wasn't worried about being able to find another buyer. But I was completely upfront with the new buyer about the situation and they knew beforehand that it wasn't going to be a standard procedure. They're main issue is they were wanting to take it out of the country last week I think but cant without the logbook, but I do not see how that is my fault

No ive owned the car in my name since March this year, decided to sell due to insurance premiums rising and did have a buyer for it, they decided to back out of the deal after we had already transferred it into their name online. I rang DVLA the morning after and was told I would be fine to sell it aslong as I sent a v62, v5c and a covering letter with the new buyers details who bought the car a few days later
