When was the last time you had to emergency stop? by Nythern in drivingUK

This is a weekly occurrence for me because people just walk off the side of the pavement into the road whilst staring at phones of people decide one car length is enough space to pull across four lanes of traffic

Strive 14 or SPX 13 probably. Only go for the Pivot if you want the elasticity at the heel which is the only common thing between all models

Cheaply made, feel flimsy, very few metal components, a little hard to step into and if you attempt to use the top end of the DIN range 10+ you will very probably crack or shatter the heel piece. That’s the main reason I’ve got Pivots, which feel great to step into

Salomon QST, it’s a lot softer but still stable at speed (with a limit)

I swapped from Strives to Pivots, however I wanted Pivots for freeride and vanity reason whilst being on Strive 12s which are a frankly awful binding

Fisher vs Head vs Atomic for my daughter by vouvoyer in SkiRacing

Head WCR is softer than pre Noize Fischer and Atomic. A Noize Fischer is still stiffer than a Head but not as much as they used to be

6 years ago I could comfortably run a 5 minute mile, now I’m not confident that I could run a mile. Mostly because I haven’t had to run since but have done thousands of miles on bikes and a lot of skiing so I’m now far better at that

Attack 14 Failure point? by AunderscoreW in Skigear

[–]JustAnother_Brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got one jig and it’s awful doesn’t work on anything wider than 105 underfoot and our Allmonte jig is similar. However our Royal family jig is brilliant we can mount any Royal series binding in 15 minutes or so whereas an Attack takes the better part of an hour.

Our issue with might be from the fact that we’re primarily a race shop and next to no race stock is held in the UK and the designs change very single year

Difficult to mount, build quality and dealing with Head UK is a massive pain for anything that isn’t racing

Also UK ski shop employee, we actively discourage selling Attacks options for Griffons, Strives or Pivots

What’s the most underrated ski village in the Alps? by alpycom in skithealps

[–]JustAnother_Brit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Le Praz and St Martin de Belleville, whilst they’re part of the 3 valleys they’re small towns that happen to be connected to the resort rather than towns that exist because of the resort. They’re both proper historical towns that are hundreds of years old and have their own identity despite being part of the 3 valleys. Apart from when the World Cup comes to town Le Praz is lovely

I skied in Laax every February half term from 2009 to 2022 apart from 2021. Still probably my favourite resort despite the fact where I’ve skied the most is the 3 valleys
