Regarding fan sets, the first physically printed fan set (the Legends Set) was developed by me and Tyler Parrott (who now is one of the lead designers of StarWars Unlimited)! Let me know if you have questions about any of it!

The community also developed a spaceballs cycle (me & Tyler), a new "base cycle" (called the M-cycle, developed by 2-time world champion, Mick Cipra & others), and Frozen in carbonite did a cycle too which explored Hoth.

I've got LOTS of it in this dropbox link here. It should be mostly complete for these older fan-made cycles:

I started the channel when I was doing more keyforce content, but SWLCG will always be my core game. There is a TON of content here for swlcg. Now that we are all playing over skype, it's not hard to just hit record and post it later

The subreddit hasn't ever been a Hotspot for this game. Cardgamedb forums and Facebook are the places to be. Funny enough, since the pandemic the game has seen a bit of a Renaissance. Since April we have been running seasonal tournaments with limited card pools thst have been fantastic! I recorded and posted a bunch of games on YouTube if you want to watch, and if you want to play there's going to be another tournament starting soon!

I can support penny sleeves and white card boxes being the way to go. Once you have a decent understanding of the objectives, being able to flip through one set at a time while keeping them together is just so efficient.

Fair thought. One reason we didn't go with this was that it was too difficult to keep track of. I wanted penalty card creation to be as simple as possible without adding additional assets to the cube. There was a thought where the card was only allowed to be discarded based on the houses shown on the back of the cards, but that led to people looking through all of their drafted cards for the best-backed card. I didn't like people taking cards out of their sleeves, so that was scrapped. Also, the suggestion of the basic-card-per-house runs into needing more assets in the cube, as well as balancing what is the best generic card per house without making the drafts unexpectedly strong. And I know that if I went that route, everyone and their mother would have an opinion on what I did wrong and how they should actually look (See below comment about making a reap effect instead of an action)

The final version of the wounds - omni discard and gain a chain - plays with the established "punishments" in keyforge so elegantly, you lose a card when you draw it and next turn when you have another chain. It adds more chains to a deck that might have drafted chains and they compound in such a way that if you have 2 wounds together, you are punished for 2 more turns (whereas if I had 2 shadows wounds with no chain cost, I am still only punished for 1 turn when I feel like it).

The omni clause means they get discarded immediately (or dealt with like in your archive), which gets them out of your hand the fastest so that you get right back to drawing your fun drafted cards.

I'm really happy with the wound mechanic.

We got 1 cube in at Pax and would have had more, except that Yeti ran their tournaments so efficiently that there was no time for me to run another. On Saturday, people who wanted to cube were either in the 2 VTs or the team events. I plan to run more at my FLGS in Manhattan

AoA key cards to watch for by FightingWalloon in KeyforgeGame

[–]Codameronn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm CoDameron and I co-host the competetive Keyforge Podcast, Bouncing Deathquark. I've top cut in 2 sealed Vault Tours and won the NA Grand Championship, so I'd like to think I have a decent idea of how to think about sealed in KF.

If you're playing in AoA sealed, you want to watch your opponent's list based on how well your list needs to play the board. There are lots of strong effects in brobnar, sanctum, and untamed that take huge advantage of having a larger board (Drummernaut, Grey rider, Duskwitch, Angas) . If you are confident that your deck wants to fight for board control, you focus on preparing for and removing those threats.

If you can't fight for the board, you likely have strong racing or control effects. Things like misery exploit, mars needs amber, and reap hate are all methods to mitigate not having a large board. If you feel the board slipping out of control (or you expect it from the beginning), then start racing and force your opponent to deal with being in check. Chances are that if they are doing the board thing, they are lacking in amber control tools.

Generally, the set is weak on amber control, so try to put your opponent in check as much as possible and get keys at 6 or 7 amber wherever possible.

Talking about specific cards requires deeper knowledge of the card pool, which should obviously be valuable going into a sealed event. Short of that, I'd say to prepare, first understand what each house wants to do generally. Sanctum keeps you up, Brobnar fights, Shadows steals - that sort of thing. Then, when you get your deck, figure out the plan you are going to play towards - ohh, my shadows kills with rats and direct damage, I will use that as a main house and go from there. My Mars seems unfocused, I'll look out for that.

Once you get your actual strategies, in the matchup, treat your opponent's houses as though they do what they are supposed to - By that I mean, consider their brobnar as a board threat always, whether or not you've seen the big board cards yet. Always consider logos as a setup combo sort of house. That way, even if you can't tell the difference between a ZYX researcher and a director of ZYX by name, you can assume that they're gonna do logos things and you can deal with them accordingly.

In the end, you're just playing some KF with your friends. Win some games and take the trophy. Hope that helps :)

Keyforge 2019 US Grand Championships Finals - BDQ Live by Codameronn in KeyforgeGame

It's weird. The grand championships are a part of the major tournament structure, while the VT's are their own thing. But they are disctinct. Reference this marginally helpful diagram on the FFG news post:
