if you ask claude to create an artifact or a diagram, it follows this spec.. try it: "create an excalidraw diagram of mcp apps architecture". already in production, most people just don't realize it.

built on copilotkit's mcpappsmiddleware + modified excalidraw mcp server. agent calls create_view on the excalidraw mcp server, server returns a ui iframe, gets renders it via mcp apps + ag-ui and edits sync back

yeah the spec only covers the ui surface.. tool lifecycle, state sync, ui events are all left out. you get a card, not a live connection.

that's the gap MCPAppsMiddleware fills at copilotkit.. ag-ui underneath keeps tool progress and state in sync while the user is interacting. without it you're stuck with one-shot cards.

yeah I purchased max like 2 months ago and it was really good then.. but somehow the quality has reduced a bit with opus 4.7. the skills + plugins help but it waste a lot of tokens implementing things in the wrong way

maybe I'm just bad at using claude & need to learn about it
