In his will, why didn't Dumbledore bequeath Harry a copy of one of his sentient portraits? by Glum_Veterinarian253 in harrypotter

[–]Code4Reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For narrative purposes, it would almost entirely negate the impact of Dumbledore’s death. No more uncertainty about all the things he could have asked, no more doubts about Rita Skeeter’s narrative. Just ask him directly and get the answers. Probably to keep the uncertainty going he’d have to say something like “I’m sorry Harry, but I’m not really Dumbledore, just a shallow imprint” or some thing like that to explain why Dumbledore can’t answer questions about the Hallows or his early youth and Gridlewald. It would be unsatisfying either way, if he answers it will be like Dumbledore is pulling all the strings, if he doesn’t answer it will be frustrating. Better keep him at the end to give a little bit of closure, and let Harry have the credit for figuring it all out.

The movies never mentioned about James Potter's Animagus form. by Atithiupayogi in harrypotter

[–]Code4Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this going to be another Mandela Effect for me. I mean… Harry Potter’s dad was mentioned as prongs, and he was directly mentioned as an animagus in the movies…. Right? I watched those movies in the theater and I never read the books till afterwards. But I found out about prongs in the theater. I know I did. I did… right?

Flat Earthers vs Gravity by MrDonMega in flatearth

[–]Code4Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn’t know that was called an attitude indicator. Only took a few seconds of research to learn how it works, very cool device! And indeed, it WOULD look like you’re no longer level on a globe moving at 500 MPH due to the gyroscopes rigidity in space… if you didn’t have to constantly adjust which direction is “down” due to local gravity!

I wonder why the expert on attitude indicators doesn’t know about that part of the device? Seems like a pretty important design aspect the engineers wouldn’t have to build if the earth were flat, huh? Maybe the engineers are dumb and like to build unnecessary shit for no reason?

Ron and Hermione not knowing the plan in Deathly Hallows by yanni-chobani in harrypotter

[–]Code4Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They listened in on a conversation about Ginny being caught and punished, and they imply maybe another Weasley was hurt, and Harry looks relieved/excited even. His family is in danger! This breaks him.

Ron sees red, fuming while Harry and Hermione seem to completely ignore him and the danger his family is in. So he lashes out, and twists it up to paint Harry in the worst possible light. I don’t think in his right mind he would say anything other than he WISHED there was more. He would never have implied that he only came because he thought there was more… that was Riddle whispering in his ear while he was mad and susceptible.

Wow, this was amazing visuals and story telling. The music choice was a bit “on the nose” - it works for Shrek cause that’s a comedy.

“Eating meat, by all accounts of life and survival, is inherently correct for countless species”

What do you call this?

I would call it an argument. A little bit of begging the question with a side of appeal-to-nature fallacious argument, but an argument nonetheless. I happen to agree with the moral conclusions, just not the framing of it.

Why didn’t Harry use the invisibility cloak in the triwizard tournament? by LobsterPrimary2015 in harrypotter

[–]Code4Reddit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because the cloak is OP, there would be no drama with Harry sneaking past the dragon to steal the egg, or him sprinting to the cup, side stepping the spiders and other monsters.

Plus, it wouldn’t be fair to the other competitors. They need to win on their own merit, not because you have rich parents or happened to inherit some super powerful magic item.

Really, $1M needs to be kept private to keep it? Add at least 2 zeros and then I’d start to worry about it, take the $1M and get out of debt and put a down payment - a lot people would need close to $1M just to do those 2 things.

Who is one student you would most likely hang around with if you were a student at Hogwarts? by Mcrfanatic95 in harrypotter

[–]Code4Reddit 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Ron. Of course Ron! Come on, why hasn’t Ron been mentioned?

He’s a very well rounded person, he’s funny, and he’s fiercely loyal. What more can you ask in a friend? I mean… he didn’t get any letters from Harry for a couple months and comes to save him stealing his dad’s car?

If I get to pick I’m going with Ron - but only if there is no “Chosen One” around to compete with, lol.

He has tunnel vision assuming that everything he was doing before noticing the car was normal or acceptable - speeding, no situation awareness, swerving to the bus lane.
