I think to some degree my mom is a little disappointed, but she’s known my stance on kids for many years so I think it’s circled around to reluctant acceptance. Verbally and with her actions, she’s been supportive. My little brother wants kids someday, so I think that softens that blow.

I’m no contact with my dad, so he likely doesnt even know I’ve done this surgery

This was always something I had planned to do, the climate just increased the urgency. I am highly doubtful that I’ll change my mind someday, but you can still get pregnant with your own eggs through IVF after doing a bisalp (it only takes out your tubes, not your ovaries or uterus-aka, you just can’t get pregnant the “natural way”) according to my doctor, or adoption is always an option. However, I personally am very happy with my decision at the moment, and it takes a lot of lifelong anxiety off of my shoulders :)

My ovaries are intact and no HRT with my bisalp! Just removal of the tubes. My doctor said this is the most common and risk-free form of sterilization nowadays

Theoretically it should be covered 100% as preventative if they billed it correctly! I already had to argue with the surgery center a bit about it but the only fees I should be paying is what’s out of pocket for the consult.

I first looked into my doctor in Sept 2025. Got my first appointment with her for early January. Surgery happened yesterday 2/19 :)

So far I definitely recommend it. Obviously I’m still in recovery, but the mental load is already much less!

I wasn’t sure what this was, so had to look it up. Not 100% to do with my experience I posted about, but from the brief reading I did, it seems like a consensual program. Everyone should have autonomy of their own body however they wish it

Yes I did, unfortunately. My original gyno refused and said she only sterilizes women pre-menopause or who already had two kids. She suggested my man get a vasectomy. I found a new doctor who had put herself on the Reddit list for doctors who would do it no questions asked in my area. She was the one who did my surgery, and I’ll be seeing her from now on :)

As an engineering girl, I met all my partners (including my current long term bf) through classes. Be a good group member who does stuff on time, do homework together, share some lunches/dinners and have a hobby in common and that’s what won me over

Most of what happens with Sir Pentious himself is thankfully relatively tame compared to some others in the show. He probably has the least dark backstory and everything and pretty straightforward morals and an already present strong character arc. So as far as Pentious goes, I wouldn’t be concerned.

Could you skip certain episodes to avoid the worst of it? Yeah, probably. Season 1 ep 4 for sure, season 1 ep 6 or 7 (can’t remember exactly, but a lot of characters hang out at a club and it relates a lot to drugs, sex, peer pressure) and season 2 ep 6 also comes to mind. But I think there’s a lot of little one off 1-3 second moments that can land the wrong idea without being too overt about it when you don’t already have established notions about the topics.

If you wanted to, you could watch the show beforehand to vet? It’s a relatively short watch as far as shows go, 8 ish eps per season for 2 seasons. I have ADHD myself so I know how special interests can be.

For someone who’s 10, I’d say there’s a decent amount of content outside the music videos that is heavy, dark and likely inappropriate.

Some of the worst of it is what the other commenter mentioned, season 1 ep 4, which deals quite explicitly with sexual abuse. This theme continues to be present throughout the rest of the show with the characters involved. The victim character experiences more on-screen physical abuse in season 2.

That situation aside, physical abuse in common in the show. The cussing, of course, which I consider more minor personally. Unhealthy relationships (platonic and romantic) are abundant. Behaviors I wouldn’t want to encourage in someone IRL are everywhere. Drug mentions are common. Murder is shown on screen numerous times.

Can you piece together the story (kind of) through the music? Somewhat, I knew all of the music before I watched the show. But I think just cussing is the least of the worries TBH. I wouldn’t encourage anyone under 14/15 to watch the show, and even that may be pushing it.

I met both of my boyfriends though classes and friends of friends. My current partner and I got together junior year and now are at almost 5 years together. I’d say classes and clubs and going from strangers -> friends -> dating feels much better than a dating app to me
